      Hey guys,

I have an interesting story on a particular frequency I have become sensitised to and ultimately how I realised something wasn't quite right with my hearing :bag:

I used to play a game called Mortal Kombat to (not for the feint hearted!) to which I'm sure a couple of you have heard of.

Ultimately one of the things you can do is slow down a game and it kind of causes a move to be performed in an "X-Ray format" - anyway, one of the characters has a sword that he carries in a battle and when he performs his so-called "X-Ray move" and my ear seems to amplify the noise which is a high pitched swoooshing noise and I was wondering if any of you have the same thing as me.. i.e an amplified effect.

The link is here for the video and it happens the second the fight begins, like a swoooooshing noise, does this have an amplified effect on any of you too?

Just curious more than anything, I do warn you guys that the video is a little gruesome but you can just listen to the sound instead of watching it.... I suppose the other warning is to listen to it at a lower volume for or not at all for the ones with bad hyperacusis but for me it kinda sounds louder than it probably should do...

      Any thoughts? o_O

      Thanks

hehe thanks Valentin, although I left out that car brakes are also now give me occasionally startle me, there is a little degree of senstisation, I know it, as I never "jumped" at these sounds before.

I have a feeling it happened when a siren went past and loudly about a week and a half ago... for a second let its siren blast and startled me almost as if the auditory was a little fired up after the ambulance

Also, I have do have intermittent Tinnitus which only seems to come on periodically... its weird I really don't know if this is hyperacusis or not lol as I do not have pain but certain sounds make me jump mainly metallic / high pitched noises

I've always hated cutlery scraping on plates, and now my t has deteriorated I've noticed amplified sounds more. Hearing aid feedback really gets me, and when a noise is amplified it takes my concentration away from whatever I am doing. I sing with a choir, and can't be near the top sopranos at all because some notes physically hurt. My ears rattle like a disconnected speaker.
I don't know if this is h, but it sure seems like it.

This could be a form of hyperacusis, especially if certain notes / sounds cause you pain and no one else seems to be affected.

I think in your case it's probably a mixture of misophonia and H - have you thought about taking a break from the choir to see if it helps ?
