I know there's been a lot written about Lidocaine. From what I've read it's officially ototoxic but there are also many positive outcomes from people who have tried it.

Next Monday I have a gastroscopy coming up which involves a local Lidocaine spray to numb my throat for the procedure. I feel the nerves coming up about a possible side effect from Lidocaine. I feel like it's an advantage for the Lidocaine to be used topically but I'm not sure.

Any thoughts or reassurance, or anybody who has gone through a procedure like this with Lidocaine?

Why don't you just have anesthesia?

I have had a gastroscopy with anesthesia and it was absolutely fine, actually the anesthesia is quite pleasant when one wakes up and life seems awesome, there are no cares, everything looks amazing on anesthesia!

The anesthesia they used, if my memory serves well, was Propofol.
