Hair Cell Regeneration to Improve Hearing Remains Promising

I am not sure if anyone else posted this, but here it is

This statement made me mad, "Although clinicians are unlikely to use hair cell regeneration as a treatment within the next decade or more, research in this area remains promising." Why are they so unlikely?

 

We see so many predictions.
This prediction is not overly accurate. The Novartis/GenVec trial that is running at the moment is about hair cell regeneration

 

@Reinier Good to know Novartis/GenVec have a trial going on for this type of treatment. So much mix messages out there with advancements to treatments.

 

There is still a long way to go. Hence my avatar.

 

I wouldn't worry to much about that article. It really says a lot about nothing, and failures to mention any current regenerative medical research in stem cells and Gene therapies in development such as CFG166.

Pointless article is pointless.

Sometimes articles are written by the misinformed or the outright pessimistic.

Although I do try not to be overly optimistic I have every reason to remain hopeful regardless of what random articles say.Reiner is right however,we are still by no means ready to regenerate the inner ear just yet but the tools have been discovered,it's just a matter of working out how exactly these tools work that's standing in our way.

It's like getting the receipe for the perfect cake,we have all the ingredients now how the hell do we turn this into something tasty

That's how I look at it anyhow.

 

Just like any other product, as soon as it's commercially available it will be sold to the highest bidders. Inevitably, once that market has been filled the price will go down. It's the rule of business.
