The Eustachi Device for Treating Tinnitus — Reviews? Experiences?

For those that may not know, the Eustachi device is used to unclog Eustachian tubes. It blows air up one of your nostrils while you swallow water and therefore "popping" the ear. I saw this On Reddit, a guy used the Eustachi device for 3 weeks and his "tinnitus is better" and at a "different tone" after 3 weeks of use.



I actually bought the device at Target (I also saw it at CVS and Amazon). I used it a couple of times, it popped my ear- no problem. My question is, has anyone with tinnitus and/or hyperacusis used it a lot during the day and if so:

1. Is this dangerous to do?
2. Did it help with tinnitus? If so, how long did it take?
3. Did it ever make tinnitus or hyperacusis worse?
4. Is there a benefit to using this daily for a few weeks?

I picked up the Eustachi as well to help open up my closed Eustachian tubes. It does what it’s supposed to do, opens and exercises the tubes. But I also stopped using it because I was afraid I might be doing damage.

I would also use it after using a nasal spray to help get the spray into the Eustachian tubes more.

So I have suffered with a loud throbbing noise in my right ear since the early 90s. Nothing would help, noises would come and go. Doctors didn't help either. After awhile I noticed that the noises would usually show up when I was tired, too hot, would yawn and stretch, or if I heard a certain pitch or frequency. I found that tinnitus maskers, white noise, helped some but only for a short time. The sound of running water was the best solution I had for a long time.

Recently I tried something I had never seen before. It is called EUSTACHI. It is a eustachian tube exerciser. I tried this the next time the noises showed up. A few minutes after doing this exercise the noises stopped. Of course they came back a few more times but they were getting better! Each time I heard them I would use the Eustachi. After using it about 4 or 5 times I have not had sounds in my ear in over a week!!!! Prayers Answered!!!

I found Eustachi in a Target store. I would imagine it is online as well. It was the best $60 I have spent! lol

It is the same concept as the valsalva maneuver but this works where if I used the valsalva maneuver to equalize ear pressure it would make sounds worse.

Wow, @TracyG3 -- Congratulations on your tinnitus cessation, especially after so many years; that's an amazing testimonial. I definitely have issue with my Eustachian Tubes, and anticipate I'll be giving this a good look. Here's a couple of YouTube videos that attest to some immediate results. Thanks for posting the videos! Was very similar to my reaction! LOL I only use this tool as needed. Definitely do no want to cause harm to my ears.

I'm calling it as I say it here people... After 33 years of tinnitus and probably £20.000, yep 20k, spent on treatments I have fallen for the trap of thinking you know what, my ears are popping and crackling and they feel full my tinnitus must be ETD... Well I have tried all these products, all useless, and from research I realise now sadly all this pressure feeling comes from symptoms of having tinnitus.

It is part of tinnitus... and ETD is a giant red herring, sorry.

 

I think if you have TMJD then that can affect your Eustachian tube. I'm doing good today either from using a TMJ appliance with bands on it and/or from using an EarPopper. Or maybe it’s a mental thing?

If @TracyG3 has gotten relief that’s all that matters.

My noise came back with a vengeance upon awakening. I can’t put together 2 good days. Sounds like a power line in my head.

 

I can’t put one good day together, maybe we will get some relief in the next few years, god willing.

 

You definitely need some relief! I’m going to see a TMJ surgeon that can inject my left TMJ with a steroid.

 

Tried the Eustachia today for the first time, and it's been a disaster. Even though I thought I was being very careful, it immediately increased my tinnitus, and is now double to triple my baseline. I don't know how long this will last, but I'm aghast at what's happened, to say the least. I may have to do a dose of clonazepam tonight, something I didn't think I'd ever even have to think about doing again. Aaargh... -- I'm hoping to come back tomorrow and report the spike is all over with, but we'll see.

 

With it probably being controlled pressure like the EarPopper, it should be safer than doing the valsalva maneuver. I sure hope you calm down. Better to use when swallowing water to seal your airway.

My noise almost always is at it loudest upon awakening. I am doing some better today after I took Lyrica plus clonazepam. I needed Lyrica for some of my spinal pain. It appears to help my noise also.

Hey man, hoping your steroid shot will help. I have a feeling we need about a half ton of opium from Afghanistan to take the edge off.

I may have to go see one of my mistresses soon, and blast through the pain.

 

How many mistresses do you have? Is your wife okay with that?

I never got a steroid shot to my TMJ. The noise sometimes switches ears and also to my head so perhaps steroid to my jaw wouldn’t help any?

I hope you can find some relief bud and that FREQ pans out.

 

No my wife is not ok with it, but things work differently here. I got two, proper nymphos, that I can call on when needed.

My libido is chilled post tinnitus, but sometimes you got to do what you got to do.

 

I remember reading on facebook someone reported that their tinnitus got much better after an ENT found that the pressure was off in one war and cut a small hole in the eardrum to fix it. I also read about a tube. Perhaps that might be worth looking into if it's pressure that's the problem.

 

If I had that kind of life I wouldn't be worrying about my tinnitus anymore.

 

I hope you are doing OK and that your spike has settled, you spend so much time helping others, I can only wish that everything calms back down quickly for you.

 

Thanks @Star64 -- It feels like I'm about 75% recovered from the increased tinnitus intensity, but my brain still feels a bit rattled. I'm hoping for some good sleep, and more improvements by tomorrow. -- Learning some interesting things from this experience, which I'll expound on soon.
