One of the most common things in our life is now one of the things I hate the most. Seriously I live with 5 other members of my family and when it is time to eat it is unbearable having to deal with cutlery or silverware dropped on plates.

Then people start washing them and also the smacks between dishware is just hell, makes me wish humans had come up with some other material for that stuff.

When I get my own place swear to god I'm gonna get other type of dishes.

That's a lot of people to have dinner with! True, having T will make you more aware of your surroundings. I know for a fact that people are pretty careless about the noises they make...even if they know you have T. Perhaps replace everyone's utensils with plastic ones, and get wooden bowls instead of ceramic =P

You can also opt to eat in your room, but that would raise a few other problems...

I don't go to the movies any more, which is fine...i rarely find modern films enjoyable lol.

Most modern movies are complete rubbish. If you want to watch movies of quality and with real acting and meaning look to films made during the 40s, 50s and 60s. The ones listed below are pure quality, once you see them if you haven't already you'll understand what I mean. There are clips on YouTube to get a feel of what they are about.

      Michael.

The Long Hot Summer: Paul Newman & Joanne Woodward
Cat on a Hot Tin Roof: Elizabeth Taylor & Paul Newman
All that Heaven Allows: Rock Hudson & Jane Wyman
The Big Sleep: Humphrey Bogart & Lauren Bacall
Casablanca: Humphrey Bogart & Ingrid Bergman
Teacher's Pet: Clark Gable & Doris Day
Mogambo: Clark Gable, Ava Gardener & Grace Kelly
      The Magnificent 7: 1960 version.
      7 Brides For 7 Brothers: 1954
Captain Horatio Horblower: Gregory Peck & Virgina Mayo
Trapeze: Burt Lancaster, Tony Curis & Gina Lollobrigida
Strangers when we meet: Kirk Douglas, Kim Novak
Marnie: Sean Connery & Tippi Hedren
The Magnificent Obsession: Rock Hudson & Jane Wyman (full movie is on youtube)

      @Michael Leigh
talking about films Michael, a couple of my favourites:

      “Whistle Down the Wind.”
(This is my all time favourite film - perhaps partly because I adore little kids so.)

      “Term of Trial.”
      (Simone Signoret, Hayley Mills.,
      Laurence Olivier, Fantastic cast,
great plot, but could have had better direction.
      Still a favourite though.)

      Marty,”
      (Ernest Borgnine.
      Truly wonderful film.)

      “Saturday Night & Sunday Morning.”
      (Albert Finney.)

My favorite movie is Notting Hill with Julia Roberts and Emma Chambers. Years ago I had visited that neck of the woods. It's beautiful and historical. I like historical places as well as wilderness. I wanted to travel when I retired - Oh well.

Omg i watch so many classic films, i managed to watch cat on a hot tin roof last night and omg...what a great movie. It was so beautiful and the acting was top notch. That Elizabeth Taylor and Paul Newman are incredible, the whole tension of the film made me squirm under the covers lol. That part between father and son in the basement made me tear up. I love Paul Newman, what an exceptional guy.

@Greg Sacramento may I ask why you said Notting hill starting Julia Roberts and Emma chambers? Surely Hugh Grant deserved a mention no??

      HI @coffee_girl

All of the movies that I given you in that list I have on DVD and watch regularly. I have watched Cat on a Hot Tin roof over 20 times and never get fed-up of it. If you haven't seen "The Long Hot Summer" Staring Paul Newman & Joanne Woodward, Please do because it will not disappoint. They got married soon after the film was completed I believe and went on star in 15 movies together.

I can usually tune into people quite quickly and had a feeling you would like "Cat on a Hot Tin Roof" so pleased I wasn't wrong. "Rebecca" 1940 is another classic Black &White, staring Joan Fontaine Laurence Olivier. Do see it if you can.
"All About Eve" Staring Betty Davis. One of my favourite actresses. It's great film and I'm sure you'll like it.

      All the best
      Michael

I agree...but for me it is not a common thing and sometimes a gem comes a long that you can watch 2-4 times and still learn something new. Some of my favorite moderns: Sicario, The Arrival, Raid Redemption, Blade Runner 2049, Lord of the Rings, Waitress, Batman (the one with heath ledger). Some great modern shows: Mad Men, Frasier (is this modern??), Sopranos, Deadwood, SATC, Seinfeld .

It's just harder to find films that don't follow a "formula". I hate when I can predict exactly how the movie is going to play out, often times i can already predict everything that happens within the first 10 minutes then i get bored. I don't get this feeling with vintage movies, so i watch a lot of them.

      You are welcome @coffee_girl

I like dick Van dyke although I don't watch much classic shows. I promise you, that you will be watching the Long hot summer again, agan and again. The music at the start of the movie is breathtaking!! Joanne Woodard's performance is magnificient. Lee Remick plays her Sister ula...at 21 years of age. What can I say about Paul Newman that you don't already know? Orson Wells plays Will Varner. His performace has to be seen to be believed. Similar to Big Daddy in Cat on the Hot Tin roof.

I am an avid reader too and I'm reading a great book at the moment and totally transfixed. Please let me know how you liked the movie..I should be charging for my reviews...lol..:)

Hi @Bam: Hugh Grant does deserves mention and he was also likable in Four Weddings and a Funeral. I liked the entire cast of Notting Hill and none would I consider minuscule. The cast had a balance of equalities, of types and of sensibilities. In real life they all made donations to human condition needs. We once had a fundraiser at a hospital where Emma Chambers and Lari White of Cast Away were large donators. Both are missed as they had beautiful minds of enduring compassion.

I also like the movie The Notebook as it resembles the lives of my parents. The rowboat scene was powerful and what followed placed tears in my eyes. Noah said " So it's not gonna be easy. It's going to be really hard; we're going to have to work at this everyday … "

why not wish scientist investigate the mechanism's of hyperacusis and find a treatment?

don't adapt like a neuro-typical, demand bio medical research for a cure!

I am currently reading a book by the author: Angela Marsons, called: Silent Scream and liking it quite a lot.

I like to read crime and thriller novels. My favourite author is Peter James. He is famous for his books featuring Roy Grace, a Detective Superintendent based in Brighton, Sussex on the south coast of England where I live. I recently finished book 14 in the series: Dead If You Don't. October the 4th he will be publishing a standalone novel: Absolute Proof, and hopefully I will be attending his book signing as I have done on many occasions.

      All the best
      Michael
