      Hello,

      I have had hearing loss, tinnitus and hyperacusis for 3 months. One day I was shooting a 9mm gun and I got acoustic trauma. During the first 1-2 months my hearing loss improved and tinnitus faded a bit. It has been 3 months.

      Can my hearing loss still recover? And can tinnitus go away? You can see current my hearing loss results below.

      6 kHz - 20 dB hearing loss
      8 kHz - 20 db hearing loss
      12 kHz - 35 dB hearing loss
      16 kHz - 40 dB hearing loss

      Can the high pitched sounds come back? Thank you very much.

      WRONG

      a 100% recovery is impossible,

      take predisone and magnesium and you most likely will recover to an extent, better then nothing.

      nothing is 100% impossible. I know of a bunch of people that have recovered fully.

      I emptied like 7 rounds for a 9mm 2-3 years ago and my ringing lasted 3 hours. Then it completely went away. My friend shot a 357 magnum and forgot one ear plug and recovered 10 days later. This time I have had tinnitus for 26 days after exposure to some fireworks(honestly I didn’t think they were louder than a 9mm) and it dropped a good amount in the last 5 days. Was like a 7 and now it’s in the 1-3 on a scale of 1-10. I would suggest to try and eat healthy and avoid loud noises. Right now the only thing I’m having is sensitivity to loud noises.

      thanks

      Avoiding loud noises and healthy habits are key. I also take NAC and magnesium every day, but that's because I'm about 1 1/2 months out from shooting seven 9mm rounds and giving myself a 50dB threshold in my right ear. Only time will really tell if the ringing and hearing loss will improve but do all you can to stay healthy.

      @sensualmosquito

      I did the same 2-3 years ago. Emptied an entire mag. of a Springfield 1911. Had ringing for 2-3 hours then it went away and never came back. This time someone threw a small pack of firecrackers and one popped by my leg and caused intant ringing. 27 days later and the ringing is now in my head. Probably 2 different tones. I just had my 3rd session of HBOT. Hope it works or atleast helps me with my nervous system. I could care less about the T when I can't hear it but when it's time to sleep it bumps up to like a 3-4 and then it stresses me out.

      Thanks for reading

      @Jassiel For me it gets worse during the evening then tends (sometimes) to attenuate more at night. It still fluctuates constantly. I guess my ears are not as robust as others as all my friends (none of whom were wearing hearing protection) all recovered with no problems. Whereas I have to live with this all my life, or until there is available treatment. I did HBOT too about 15 days after the incident for a few days (6 sessions). I couldn't afford to do more. I wish I had started it earlier though.
