      Hi Guys,

So I've been wondering; How come some people with detectable hearing loss (on an Audiogram) don't have tinnitus?

I also know of someone with normal hearing but no detectable OAE's and has no tinnitus.

For those wondering what OAE's are - it's a test used to detect inner ear hair cell function. These cells are meant to help us hear.

I'm baffled by this and it seems every Audiologist believes that tinnitus and hearing loss are always linked.

Hearing loss can be from problems with your middle or inner ear.
Tinnitus comes from the limbic part of your brain and missfireing signals add to it so you can have tinnitus in your head and ears also.
It is weard you can have Hearing loss with or without tinnitus and tinnitus with no hearing loss.
