Hi all. I’m new here. Have had Tinnitus for about 2 years. It started when I had a heavy head cold and blocked ears. Kept it to myself pretty much as my mum and brother were both diagnosed with Cancer so this doesn’t seem important by comparison. For me it’s a high pitched hissing sound mainly on the left that’s worse in the evenings and at night. It often keeps me awake.

I had a hearing test at ENT last week and have been told I have slight hearing loss in both ears but not enough to need hearing aids. I’ve been told that it’s routine to do a head MRI scan where Tinnitus is one sided, just to dot the i’s And cross the t’s.

Have been told that’s likely to be a couple of months away. Am also being referred for Hearing Therapy as it’s affecting my sleep.

      Welcome!
The MRI is generally done to rule out an acoustic neuroma.

at the end of the day, do some exercise to get tired, take a shot of vodka or down a glass of wine, that's my zonk strategy.
