My name is Tom. I'm 72 years old. I've had Tinnitus since March of 2016. What a nuisance.

There was a question when signing up as to what caused this. Well, I have had different experiences to warrant this situation.

      1. When I was pre-school years old, I was hit by a garbage truck. I had a concussion and was in and out of
      consciousness for a few days...

      2. Contracted Meniere’s disease in or around 1969/ Left deaf in the Left ear.

      3. Played in a band, but it wasn't really loud music.

      4. A couple years ago I had 4 teeth in the bottom middle of my mouth replaced and that is actually when the Tinnitus started.

      5. I have also been under a lot of financial stress for years and more so lately.

I have loads of material on treating Tinnitus with alternative medicines and foods but as yet haven't been successful.

I only work with Alternative/Integrative Medicine. Even have my own health website.

I'm sure this is always the first question to be asked but has anyone had success in alleviating or diminishing Tinnitus?

as well as the post below it.

Both of those posts are about studies of seniors with tinnitus. The studies provide information about the fraction of people who report an improvement.

Over the past three months, have you experienced any fading?

Maybe had some fading but nothing significant and it didn't last but a few seconds.

There was a lot of information. I'm getting a headache. I didn't notice any "Alternative" methods.

@TomDe Can you talk a little more about #4. Did you have implants? How soon did your tinnitus start after dental work?

Yes, they were implants. 4 teeth together. The Tinnitus started almost immediately.

@TomDe Hi Tom: Implant discussion upon receiving immediate tinnitus.
You mentioned in another thread that your tinnitus never fads for more than a few seconds. So it appears that you do not have somatic issues. This would rule out a lot of stuff.

The noise of the drill if used on appointment where tinnitus developed - possible
Anesthetic solution by needle hitting a nerve - doubtful
Penetration of inferior alveolar nerve - doubtful
Pressure to nerve endings - doubtful but possible for those older - healing does happen
More than one kind of metal in mouth doubtful, but almost 4% with more than one metal in mouth have tinnitus
Neck pressure and/or jaw pressure - most common next to noise of drill, but that would be somatic which you appear not to have

It may be the noise of the drill
Your Meniere's might be a factor, not sure

Stay around for support - I so much best you the best possible

      @TomDe

Hi Tom: If your tinnitus is related to this, then some questions.
      1. Do you have any building of extra fluid/liquid in mouth?
      2. Do you have any burning within mouth, tongue or lips?
      3. Is your neck sore?

I also have complications from dental. I have read many studies and professional articles on many different natures to dental and tinnitus. I have also visited dental boards where only dentist post where they don't use their real name. They do talk about dental and tinnitus connections.

Infection can happen when teeth are pulled as well when implants are placed. The three questions above is a start to see if there's an infection that can be treated. When nerves are damaged they will often heal, but it might take a few years. When nerves are damaged, infection often takes place.

      Hi Gregg,

      Thanks for more info.

NO is the answers to your questions.

In reference to #3, I do have a degenerative disk in my neck area and lower spine area.

      @TomDe
There's a great deal of pressure placed on the lower jaw when having lower front implants placed - 38% of all impulses that go to the brain pass thru the TMJ area - source: Neck Pain, Whiplash and Dental Health - Stamford. It's called dental whiplash causing tinnitus - it happened to me. This can cause a variety of symptoms which may include muscles, discs, nerves and tendons within the TMJ area and neck. Even the c spine itself can be straighten from muscle stress and spasms from jaw pressure. There must be a thousand articles that discuss this or include discussion on this. There are times afterwards where the neck may not have a lot of soreness or pain. Sometimes spasms in the lower spine can play into all of this.

A neurologist needs to be seen for starters.
