Mine is 14000 Hz, dying inside. It's not the loudness but the extreme high pitch.

How do you guys cope with extreme high pitches?

I'm curious too. If you have hearing loss, is the tinnitus hz what you have lost? What if you've lost multiple frequencies?

@Jantine you just need to try and remain calm. I do breathing exercises and try to distract myself. I've had a couple of loud episodes at night, I try to remain calm. Not sure if you're single but maybe talk it over with a spouse, family or close friends. I know it's hard, I'm having issues with my ears right now. High pitch in my left ear but can be loud in both. But I always have noise in both ears. Also, keep background noise on. Not sure if you listen to anything at night but try to play white noise at night. It's the only thing getting me through day to day.

Before you use the tool below, set the volume of your pc to 1 out of 100, rotate the knob on your speaker so that it is at its minimum, and set the volume on the screen to 1. You can easily get a new acoustic trauma if you don't follow these instructions.

      Here is the tool
      http://www.audionotch.com/app/tune/

If you can't hear the frequency, SLOWLY turn the volume up on your speaker until you begin hearing it. You may want to not do any of it, as the risk doesn't justify the gain.

I am hesitant to even try. I have severe hearing loss for 6,000k and above. The frequency needs to be around 90hz in order for my right ear to even hear it, and since it bounces around my head, I'd rather not even try listening with my better ear.

But I've read that it's helpful to hear the lost frequency through white noise, that it can help with tinnitus. Is that true? Does it need to be at a volume that you can hear what you lost?

Mine isn't high pitched, it's just in my left ear and it's more like white noise. It's louder and more intrusive at various times, sometimes it's down to just a low rumble.
