      Cause of Tinnitus:
Water in my ears while showering
I did not realize every time I took a shower or went swimming small amounts of water was entering my ears causing my tinnitus.

I now use ear plugs in the shower and when I swim and the ringing is 90 % gone.

I have to be in a silent space to even hear the remaining 10 % if it is that much at all.

It was so bad for years I wanted to kill myself to stop the ringing... but I was able to cope with the ringing by using a fan in my bedroom so I could sleep at night... which kept my alive.

      It was loud constantly.

If you notice a little constant pressure under your ear lobes on your neck you may have the same water build up as I had... give this a try and you may be cured like me... along with a monthly wax removal.

      Thank the Lord.

Really interesting to hear. Very tempted to try it myself, even though my tinnitus was caused by loud noise exposure.

Why do you think the water in your ears gave you tinnitus? Never heard of this happening before.

      Hey

I worked in a concert hall for 25 years and listened to rock bands every week...I don't think there was a band I missed that played in Canada during that time...I believe this noise and with the water issue gave me the ringing.

Hi @eye_share , I'm very interested in what you're saying, as i have to get my ears cleaned out of wax every 2 ears or so because i have narrow ears.. Which method do you use? Water syringing? I'm just wondering because that's what i used to get done when i was younger but the last time i was at specialist who introduced me to ear irrigation which is bassicly a small pipe that sucks out loose wax, it's apparently safer.

I WISH a simple fan in my room would help me!!! Damn, I wear headphones at night with the loudness all the way up and listen to thunderstorms in order to sleep, and even then I can STILL hear the high pitch squeal.

So you are suggesting wearing ear plugs in water. How did the water you took in empty? Absorbed eventually? I do have a pool and have noticed it a lot after a shower. Do have the pain in the ear/neck. Guess I'll try the earplugs.

I am really sad to read that your constant ringing is so loud...I thought my ringing was loud.

I don't think what you are doing is a good solution to allow you to sleep. Your T might get louder as a result of using headphones to listen to loud sounds for long periods of time every day. Consider taking medication to help you sleep. I found amitriptyline to be helpful. It is non-addictive and it didn't make me feel drowsy the next morning.
Instead of trying to mask T sound, think of it as "sound enrichment." With sound enrichment, you have something else to listen to, besides your T.

Michelle I was the same way when it first hit me . I did deep breathing technique to help me chill . Now I'm so use to it i don't do anything but go to bed with the fan on its been 23yrs for me and my ears ring loud but I push on . Lose the headphones, but that's just my opinion you have to make your own path ... Good luck to you !!! CURLY

      @threefirefour

Cure hearing loss = Cure Tinnitus
incases of hearing loss induced T ofcourse. Sorry TMJ folks

This Success Story adds up with the central gain model of tinnitus and it being reversible!

Mechanisms of tinnitus -- a story of men,...

Tinnitus and noise amplification related hyperacusis are synonymous

A term to to describe the actual problem of T and H is "Central Gain" which is higher regions of the brain acting as an internal hearing aid to pick up on damaged frequencies because of less input from the audiotory nerve. While the brain amplifies damaged high frequencies it also also picks up on and creates more hyper neuronal activity in auditory regions of the brain. This is the sound we hear as tinnitus, next the brain amplifies normal non damaged frequencies making them super loud. This is one variation of hyperacusis. If the input (hearing) is restored the brain should "zoom out" of it's amplification state and the tinnitus and hyperacusis should cease.

In another threat you mention that you cured your t by giving up sugar salt and a lot of other things.Make your mind up
