It would be interesting to know how often does every one Tinnitus spikes.i am talking about spike when nothing will mask it and it becomes unbearable .
Mine has not gotten to unbearable level but it seems I am getting more low level spikes after I went to movies without ear plugs .

I used to get a lot of spikes in the beginning when I got t, specially whenever I would eat any junk food, now it seems like I only get spikes when I don't get enough sleep. I stay away from any loud environments, I haven't gone to any movies since I got t, and I don't think I ever will:sour:

Sean are talking about spikes from loud noises? or are you talking about fluctuating tinnitus where some days are low and other days are loud?

How loud does something have to be to cause a spike? can low noise like a hair dryer cause it, or does it have to be really loud, i have no clue!!!!

I haven't got a clue either Carol, the weird thing is, I was exposed to the noise that caused my spike multiple times before and it never affected my tinnitus, this time round it did, maybe it is cumulative, I don't know.

Carol, I don't use hair driers anymore, when your t is very new, even noise from hair driers etc can further damage your ears.

You're welcome carol , no don't wear the plugs all the time, but yes whenever you are in loud environments. I always carry mine with me in my purse. I won't walk on busy streets without wearing it. I've learnt all this the hard way.

Carol , I got my t due to aspirin and then it went away in a month's time, but I was very ignorant at the time and all the doctors I went to were equally ignorant. I didn't protect my ears at a very vulnerable time , and ended up with what seems like a permanent T :(

Yes I was taking extra strength aspirin every day for a blood condition I have :( in addition to the aspirin I was going through a lot of stress at the time, another thing I would avoid carol is excessive use of cell phone and cordless phones at least till your t gets somewhat better. I don't use either anymore, and I must say my t is much much better now and very few spike days.

Hi carol, I am ok, my tinnitus is still the same but I am feeling ok.

      How are you doing?

You are very kind asking about me, when you have only had tinnitus since November, remember I am only experiencing a blip at the minute because of this spike. The majority of people struggle at first then they keep getting better and better, keep your chin up, I was happy before this spike and I know I will feel better again in time.

I was thinking about you today, and hoped you would say that is has lowered, i have a feeling that in these next two weeks you will notice a difference, i on the other hand because t is still early for me live with the hope that it might just go on it´s own... wishful thinking i know, but i´m not letting go of that thought just yet!!!

Carol, I hope your tinnitus disappears and there is a strong chance that it might, have hope.
The only reason I believe my tinnitus is permanent is because when I first got tinnitus from a fire alarm in my dads shed in the middle of the night last year, was because i was exposed to the alarm for a few minutes when I was trying to find the bloody thing in a packed shed full of tools, it was that loud my eardrums were beating like two heartbeats in my head, I thought they were going to explode! Proper damage to the inner ear, oh well, I have got used to my tinnitus and I know I will be fine again in time.

I´m sure you will be fine again, and it is a case of one day at a time, stay strong ( i know you will )

Hi Mick, I have been very concerned about the long hours I spend on my iPad, since I got T , my iPad has been a life saver as the only support and ' therapy " I have is this forum ! Under Ayurvedic treatments it does say to stay away from all computers and wi fi's once you have the T. Plus I also listen to YouTube night sounds all night to sleep on my iPad...my laptop is not working anymore so not quite sure what to do now, but I know I need to at least restrict my time on the net !
