I Am New on This Forum

Dear All,

I would like to say Hi to everyone and introduce a bit myself and my Tinnitus problems.

I am 31 years old and I have T and H since November 2015, more than one year now...

It is very difficult for me to cope with this but we do not have the choice...

I feel very lonely with this and I am happy to have found this forum...

Normally I speak french but there are not a lot of people on french forums... So I found this Forum and see that there is a great activity here !

I leave in Geneva, Switzerland so now it is almost 10 pm.

Do you have also Hyperacusis ?

 

I did have in the past but went away .I have bilateral tinnitus due to menieres ...lots of love glynis

Did you test your hearing in order to find a cause?

Yes I had it tested but no hearing loss...

And you do you also have Hyper ?

 

HI @Christophe_85 Do you listen to music through headphones or play computer games using headset?

 

No since I have T and H I don't use headphones anymore... And I just listen to music but quite low...

And sometimes very low !

 

@Christophe_85 try not to sleep in a quiet room as it will make you focus on the tinntius more. A sound machine helps. It is box that plays nature sounds..Keeping the volume slightly lower than the tinnitus.

Last winter I put a fan to help me covering the noise. But I saw on Amazon some of these sound machines and definitely I will buy one of those !

Some brand better than other ?

Yes, 10 years, but fortunately they remained relatively mild..

 

But when you go out with your friends, do you need to be careful with the noise ?

 

Mild form of H since noise exposure couple of weeks ago but it seems to be improving lately. On the other hand my T increased and changed tone, nearly impossible to mask now unless in the shower..

So yes when you go out with your friends, be careful with the noise

 

What happened with the noise ?

I try to always take my ear plugs with me every day... But it depends on days, some days I am more sensitive than others...

 

When did this all start Christoph?And any clues as to why it happened?
Head trauma,loud noise or excessive noise,medications things like that?

It started in November last year just 2 weeks before my 30 birthday... What a gift...

No trauma or hearing loss, and I didn't take any medication at that time... But I am a very nervous and anxious person so I think it is because of that !

Nowadays I am suicidal, besides I take an Anti-depressant and sometimes a Benzo to calm my nerves...

And you how do you live with it ?

 

I'm sorry I have to ask this but I do,any autism at all?H is heavily associated with autism that's why I'm asking such a personal question.

i can relate to you im very Nervous and Anxious.
but to be honest this year when i got "my T" i went to therapy and i started to practice something that i call "live today and dont worry about tomorrow" i know it sounds easy than what it is, but i think we can achieve and that will help with the anxiety a lot. you CAN stop anxiety.

a few months since my onset ive been able to have fun again, go out with friends (to not so noisy places)
do new fun stuff, even go to the movies (with foam plugs)

right now im dealing with other stuff who puts tinnitus and life to the perspective, and all i can say is enjoy your day and your life, do something new everyday and help others.
there might be a solution for your tinnitus sooner, but in the mean time, live you life!!!
and of course take care of your ears.

whenever you feel suicidal remember that life is worth it and everything can change.
you are not alone, and life even with difficulties can be awesome and beautiful

I think my T and H have increased those few weeks... I dont know how long I could hang on like this... I already wrote to 2 associations who do assisted suicides with a doctor... But I would need to complete a file with the support of Psychiatrist and/or Doctors to confirm that my life is too hard to live with...

Just laugh at the bastard tinnitus. It can't do anything serious. Concentrate on what is important to you and it will fade into the background.

This is a woman who has T and it has gotten so strong and loud that she chose to die even if she was not really suicidal...

She chose to leave this world with assisted suicide.

 

Did you try TRT ? I think it might be good for you

 

Yes I watched this and understand why she wanted to go. In the end it is up to you. If it is so bad then assisted suicide is a way out. You can choose and this gives you power. For me I am probably too lazy for this option. Yes it is loud and annoying but there is a lot of bureaucratic shit to go through with assisted suicide and then the mess you leave behind with loved ones and relatives. I just couldn't be arsed.
