Hello, today when I washed dishes accidentally dropped a metal grater in an iron sink, from a height of about a meter. The sound was unpleasant and loud enough.

How do you think I should worry? Could this somehow affect the tinnitus or lead to an acoustic trauma?

I get anxious about sudden loud noises too! I wouldn't worry, you will probably get a small spike that will go away or you might not even get a spike.

My guess is that the worst that might happen is that you get a 3-7 day spike.

Negative thinking about sounds in the environment being harmful reinforces the belief that even slightly raised sounds are cause for alarm which isn't the case. Please try and get out of this mindset as you are not helping yourself. The stress and anxiety this creates alone can cause your tinnitus to spike. Please click on the links below and read my posts.

I would probably try to forget about it as it's already done. And my guess is that you'll at best get a week of slight tinnitus and if it's the case, slight muffling sound. But the anxiety will be passed soon, as it is the human nature to sink into oblivion. There are other matters in our lives that's pressing us, and soon other worries will take its place.
