I Turned the Fan Off All Day!

This is big for me. I was scared of the silence because of what my new tinnitus sounds like, but today I decided to face my fears and turn the fan off all day while I relax. It turns out it wasn't so bad without the fan, it was better because I am getting tired of the fan sound going on all the time. I only want to use my fan now for bed time.

I got tired of crickets so I looked for other nature sounds. My current tinnitus is somatic and unmaskable. In fact masking makes it worse so I generally go without these days.

How do you know your tinnitus is somatic? Also, what do you mean by "somatic"? It's when is TMJ or neck related? It's when you can modulate it with your movement or jaw?

Yes. Also it reacts to sound around me as well as motion. But it started as ringing in the ears after a concert which didn't go away and which morphed into somatic hissing after a few weeks.

When I'm exposed to noise again, the hissing morphs back again to a loud steady ringing for a few days.
