I find that white noise always helps. Be it a fan of some sort or something you find online. I personally really like this nice little website http://mynoise.net/ We are designed to be comfortable around white noise. In the wild when we were tiny monkeys, predators often heard much better than we would. Sleeping near waterfalls or noisier places was ideal to avoid being heard. Those who didn't enjoy white noise as much didn't succeed as much evolutionarily. Also in general you don't want to think about trying to sleep. Just relax and you'll fall asleep eventually. I might suggest looking into some mindfulness practice and some relaxation meditation. It's helpful too sometimes.
