Over the last few years I've experienced spikes a few times. Every time triggered by being out in somewhat - though not as loud as I used to be able to handle earlier - noisy environment. At the time being, I didn't experience the noise as too loud, but the day after my ears were (and are, at the moment) ringing more than usual. The previous times it's receded back to "normal level" after 5-10 days or so, but it does bother me quite a lot.

Are my ears getting more and more sensitive, since it's noise at levels that never used to be much of a problem?

What kind of environments are you referring to?
      Bar/cafe/restaurant/movies...?

It was a restaurant this last Saturday. There was music, but only as a backdrop, otherwise only people talking. I was there for almost 3 hours. Also spent 2 minutes in a louder bar, but I can't believe that caused it.
