      I tried Amitriptyline.
      I just felt sick, no positive influence on my T.
      Other people said they experienced different effects of Amitriptyline, which shows just how different our bodies are.

      @Anna V.
      Amitriptyline and Nortriptyline are two antidepressant that can help reduce tinnitus for some people.
      I have not heard it can make your ears more sensitive but thats not to say it can.
      Love glynis x

      Its a 'dirty' old school antidepressant drug. Its very sedating and has been known to cause addiction and withdrawal problems.
      Side effects which are vast are available to read online...include ringing in the ears and hearing things aren't there.
      Seems a poor choice for a T and H sufferer.

      Hm. Thanks all. It was in the context of relief of neurological discomfort, which I understand it's prescribed for a bit too. But same stuff. Thanks for replies.

      Kelvin, I've been wondering, when you say dirty what you mean exactly and why?

      Quite the opposite in my case.

      H started reducing after day 1 and continued to do so. After two weeks I can now tolerate boiling kettles, washing up and family conversation which previously I could not.

      My T is much the same though I had one morning when I couldn't detect it at all for two hours.

      I guess the answer to the effectiveness of this drug as in so many cases is "it varies". Really happy to have my H reduced!
