Hi does this sound like pulsatile tinnitus?

I have had a high pitched ringing in my ears for 2 years, I saw a ENT who said I had slight hearing loss in both ears at high frequency, he offered me no advise and sent me on my way.

About 4 weeks ago I noticed a wind like sound in my right ear when I bent down, it only lasted a second like someone blowing in my ear. I then began noticing in when I moved my head in certain positions.

A couple of weeks ago I woke up to a rhythmic whooshing sound in my right ear I was laying on my left side, I now get this whooshing sound when I move my neck in certain ways but it only last about 30 seconds then stops.

I went to see my doctor and she looked in my ears and said I had pockets of fluid in my right ear but it was nothing to worry about. She also listened to my neck and said it was clear.

Because I broke down and said it was causing me anxiety she referred me to a ENT, I am waiting for a appointment.

I have normal blood pressure and no other health issues.

I have a bulging disc in my neck between C3 & C4 which was picked up on a brain MRI I had down 3 years ago (no other issues found) -- could this be connected?

I am in a terrible state worrying about this, any advise would be much appreciated.

      That is possibly PT indeed.
I get some pulsating "fog horn" in addition to my high pitch T pretty regularly.

I get the same thing. When getting out of bed or up from a sitting position i get a whooshing sound in my head. Lasts only a second but happens a lot during the day . Does anyone else get this as well? I also have sound sensitivity . Tinnitus is a high pitch with multiple tones that kind of soun ds like tinkling glass. This is a horrible thing to live with. I just hope it gets better with time

I am going to see ENT on 5 feb so will let you know what he says, yours sound the same as mine, I pt usually constant do you know? Mine is only with certain movements, it just worries me its connected to blood flow in my neck. I cant find many people who have this kind of noise

Hey Ho, i have the same more or less just the C3/C4/C5 are hit for me.
As many here I have been to many doctors and one told me that due to the issue on the neck the muscles around it might contract a bit (or more) and hence the blood vessels my get some distortion leading sometimes to this changing in the pitch.

Try doing some exercises for the neck or stretching it a bit and see if this affects.

As for me i am 98% convinced that my T is due my neck condition (i recall reading here in the forum that someone with T had no T anymore after neck surgery)

The sound i get that only last about a second sort of sounds like someone removing an air hose from an air compressor. That's in addition to this awfull high pitch ringing along with the multiple tones i hear in both ears . Sometimes i just want to lay down and die. Some days are better but they are few and far between. When i read story after story about how many here spent thousands of dollars in vain i get depressed beyond belief thinking we are so alone. Stuck with this without any hope. Im not giving up yet tho and im still glad i have a place to go (tinnitus talk) everyone here is like a family

This is exactly the same sound I get, if I turn my head to the left its sometimes comes in a wave and them stops, I also have the continuous high pitched ringing. Have you seen any medical professional about this issue? I can live with the high pitch ringing but its this other sound that is getting me down

Yeah mine does that. As my neck gets in certain positions it gets louder and quieter. Tip my head back - it gets louder, move my ear towards my shoulder - it gets louder etc. I would describe it as a high pitched Hisssss. Most of the time when its loud it seems to be rhythmic with my heart, so...I think I am basically listening to blood flow in my neck and as the vessels get compressed it gets louder. Its scary but not died yet :) Must get to GP to get some scans done but no doubt this will take an age and come up with nothing.
If you panic it will get worse and i suspect your blood flow or pressure may increase ?
Its all a guess but calm is the key.
I hope you get a break from it soon X

      @Caroline48

Hi Caroline, I'm not familiar with the US health care system but see if you can get an angiogram or ultrasound of the neck to assess blood flow.

Hey! I had Pulsatile Tinnitus for an entire year. Same symptoms as mentioned above. Whooshing sound to my heartbeat. Only happening at night and I could move my head to change the sound. Went to ENT and had a hearing test. All was good. The ENT specialist put me on Prednisone highest dose for 5 days. I have also started taking digestive enzymes and working our every morning. In about a week, my tinnitus has completely gone away. My best advice: If you are overweight, start working out consistently. Take a good digestive enzyme because your body may not be digesting foods properly causing a vitamin deficiency as well as causing inflammation due to undigested foods. Eat well. Limit salts. (this one is huge) Salts can cause so many problems when you eat them in excess. Most of us do not realize how much salt is in a few crackers. it's staggering. And lastly, if you are prescribed Prednisone, TAKE IT! I was initially prescribed this steroid when I first told my primary care doctor about the noise in my ear. I filled the script but never took it., thinking it was a complete waste of time. LOL Now a year later and an 11.00 script later, I am regretting that choice and wish I took it sooner. But nevertheless, the sound is finally gone! Hope this helps! Oh Yeah, and POMEGRANATE JUICE also helps if you have problems with the cardioid artery which can cause turbulent blood flow and make things much worse. I drink it a few times a week for maintenance and as a preventative because what I read about that maybe being the cause freaked me out to the fullest. BTW I am a 34 year old female.
