It's Not So Bad

I recently noticed I have ringing in my right ear. It was like the 22nd of January when i discovered it. I'm not sure if i had tinnitus for a long time and I'm just now noticing it.

I hear people lose sleep over this but for me I've been sleeping very well the buzzing is almost relaxing at night.

Please, think about the word choice, this can be quiet a slap in the face for the heavy sufferers.
But actually, it's not bad that you posted this. We only get one side of the story here, the heavy sufferers, or people who have trouble coping with mild T.
It's good to hear the story from one of the other (millions) with a form of mild T who are actually not bothered by it. I envy it.

 

I had zero issue with my mild/moderate T. It was almost relaxing like the OP said. That went for 12 years.

And now I can't stand my loud T.

A good example of the difference between mild and loud T

 

Ye i had mild T since i was a kid that was never annoying, until i could hear it in every day environment. THERE IS A VERY BIG DIFFERENCE

 

Any noises in your head or ears whatever loudness it might be is not nice but right now i would love to have low tinnitus I'd certainly settle for that.

 

@thering, I hope it stays that way for ya, when someone hears it over any and everything it's a very different ballgame.

 

It doesnt matter if his T is just mild, its a good thing that you are not bothered by it right now man. Even if it does get louder then everything from the mindset you have shown it seems like you will be able to cope just fine.

 

This is the biggest reason tinnitus isn't taken seriously. The majority of people with tinnitus have mild tinnitus and think that's as bad as it gets.

Hey researchers, stop working on your cure for T. This is all in the mindset.

 

You're lucky your T isn't that bad. Mine is too, at least for now. If I didn't have hyperacusis, I would have habituated after a month or so and never would have joined this site.

From hereon, protect your ears when needed. Based on what I've read, it can get suicidal-level bad when it does get bad.

But not everybody with tinnitus joins forums and reads extensively about it so how would they know that some people have it way worse?

 

why? should everyone with mild joint pain be chronically anxious about severe arthritis when most of them will never develop it?

No. do you think that @thering is assuming he has the worst possible tinnitus and it never gets worse than that? I'd say that's reading a lot between the lines of a 59 word statement.

It feels to me like every time someone with less obnoxious T makes a statement about here, someone immediately gets offended and feels personally attacked, and I don't really think that's reasonable. Like, it would be one thing if someone said "my tinnitus is fine therefore yours is too and you're a giant baby if you disagree", but, like, literally no one has ever done that

 

Sorry if my post upset anybody. I was just being positive about my own experience. I understand the difference between mild tinnitus and intense degrees of it.
I luckily only have it in my right ear and it isn't that loud as of now.

 

No, I'm not saying thering meant it that way... I was making a general statement not really directed at him, perhaps a gross generalization. But I have had a number of people tell me in person that they have tinnitus and just dismissed it as a minor nuisance. I have even had some doctors and an ENT have the same dismissive attitude about the condition.

 

yup, that's super obnoxious, for sure! I think doctors tend to be dismissive of things that they know they can't fix.

my last ENT was incredibly sympathetic and supportive, but at the end of the day.... she couldn't fix it either!

 

The doctors I had with the AM101 trials were great. Very knowledgeable and sympathetic. I wish they could be my doctors here. My ENT here left the practice and I asked her if she could recommend someone else to take over my care (I need one for WC). She told me she couldn't think of one in the state that would be helpful for me.

 

I think it also depends on how you get tinnitus, for me the regret, self hate and utter bewilderment of the events leading up too the event blow my mind, it never leaves my thoughts and of course tinnitus all the time too remind me about it.
I destroyed my own life. That's not something you can forget about easily.

 

Yep. Someone else destroyed my life. That's not any easier to get over.

 

I think that would be worse. I really only have myself too blame. I don't know what would happen if it was caused by someone else.
