Yesterday we went out for a big family lunch, which included many friends, and one of the topics discussed was the benefit, or otherwise, of a life of faith, which many of them subscribe to.
My faith is quite simply - Kindness,
      that’ll do me.
A good discussion, and we had a nice time.

Walking home from the restaurant we had to walk past a house with a burglar alarm screaming away.
Those in front looked round with the biggest of grins on their faces, amused to see just how “poor old Dave, with those ears of his” was struggling, with his fingers in his ears.
It didn’t surprise me - I’ve grown inured to unfeeling ignorance.

Tinnitus is the most appalling of torments, and as us sufferers appreciate only too well, it can very easily prove fatal!
Usually those unfortunate people with the ‘big name’ illnesses, can suffer in peace and quiet, retaining their precious silence - which is denied to us.

Somehow we go on, trying to make some sense of our lives, which have been turned upside down, because we do not want to give in to this thing, or fail those loved ones around us.

I have committed myself to coping.
      I’m still here - and I’m staying!
We are all heroes folks, reluctant of course, but that is truly what we are.
Love to every one of us,

      Jazzer xx

Agreed, @Jazzer has a very lyrical quality to his writing style. It’s as if your musical gifts flow through your personality. Thank you for always being so honest about both the negative and positive.

Did you have to walk past that house? Couldn't you have turned back and catch up with those other people later?

Hey @Jazzer, Tinnitus is a side effect of Chemotherapy. Some people with "big name" diseases would be glad if they got away only with Tinnitus.

I know it sucks from time to time, but it's a fact that there are worse things than Tinnitus.

Who are those people looking at you when you protect your ears? If they are your friends and family, talk to them! Sometimes they don't understand what's going on.

      Best,
      Zug

The ones that laugh are usually, the weak ones and the most insecure ones. Let them laugh and you remain strong and resilient.

I take your point @Bill Bauer, but the house in question was right next door to the family house.
Actually by closing off my ears I was safe.

Never be ashamed of who you are and what you are going through in life. if people don't like you, find new people. I was in my martial arts class and we were doing boxing drills and my hands shake now when I hold the boxing mitts. My hands shake due to meds and stress. My training partner was kinda joking and asking why my hands shake. I said Sh*T happens bro, life happens. I was blunt and I didn't care how he felt, i answered him and moved on.

You cannot please everyone in life and you shouldn't. You need to only take care of those people, that genuinely love you and those people that contribute to your life and make it better. Tinnitus is a serious matter and we need to do what we can to feel comfortable. Protect your ears, stand tall and be bold and keep being resilient.

Yes, I know that “T” can be a side effect of chemo, but that is not always the case.
My lovely misus had breast cancer, ovarian cancer, and omentum cancer operations all within two months, followed by months of chemo.
      Happily - no “T” thank goodness. x

Tinker Bell you always seem to write what I also think. I picked up on this quality right away. That and the gentle nature Jazzer maintains here.

@Jazzer your wife is stunning! So glad she came through all the cancer treatments and has such a beautiful smile.
But I can see she probably keeps you in line!!! :) I love her necklace.

@Tinker Bell & @Starthrower - you are both very kind.
This condition we find ourselves in is best served with kindness and empathy.
      A benign attitude.
I am pretty sure we all come close to tears at times, and need that metaphorical hug.
      I know that I do.

My lovely misus, by the way, as well as being the kindest soul I have ever met, is a retired clinical hypnotherapist......she has helped me so much.

The other day, for a bit of fun, I asked our grandsons if they had girlfriends yet.
They all want to clone Nonie Noo (Italian for grandma) so they can marry her!!

She is an embroidery designer for machine embroiderers, and sells her designs world wide.
In her spare time, she runs a charity supplying embroidered decorations for the Royal Marsden Children’s Cancer Hospital, made by stitch witches who send them from all over the world to our address, to be delivered to many children’s hospitals.
Here are a few examples of her designs.
Hope I haven’t bored you all witless....

NonnieNoo Creations - Home of Cuddly Critters
      (will find it online.)

      The operation is this.
      She designs the critters.
Makes a family of five sizes.
      We photograph the ‘family.’
She then sells just the design, on line,
which goes to the purchasers computer,
to be put on a memory stick,
and inserted into their embroidery machine.
Their machine will re-create the critter exactly.
      So she sells the design.

I went to parents evening at my kid's school. Sat down with the teacher and the burgler alarm went off for no obvious reason. And when your time was up, the headteacher rings a bell to let you know. Until recently I would have been stressed by these events but I didn't react today. My ears are so bad now that I don't fear spikes or worsening like I used to. Progress maybe?

      That’s very interesting @Tweaker.
I don’t tend to get spikes - I seem to have just load constant.
But maybe it is dangerous to assume that there could be nothing worse.
I do protect with plugs whenever I feel a particular noise is a threat.
