If you remain open to Tinnitus,
      if you can accept it,
just allow it to be there,
      indifferent to it,
      it sometimes fades away.

      Despise it,
      attempt to block it out,
      and you keep it alive.

No need to shoo it away.....
No need to listen out for it.....

      Just let it be.........

If the above is you being sarcastic, then it is also you being a bit of a ... "not a nice person."

The original post wasn't bad. It was certainly not deserving of your attack. I hope that the next time you feel like attacking another T sufferer (e.g., write a post that will make you feel good at their expense), you will think twice and then decide not to do it.

      Just ... let it be.

Seriously though, I wouldn't be remotely as cheesed if he didn't post this kind of stuff all the time. I'm not going to attack him for it of course, so I posted a mildly sarcastic comment.

In hindsight, you're right. Those posts he make may make some people feel better, and they usually don't get any traction anyways. It wasn't worth our bumps.

Well @threefirefour - what I have outlined above, simple though it seems, is extremely hard to achieve, but it can be done, and it works for me.
If it works for me, it just might help somebody else?
      I do hope so.

Coping with “T” is a conceptual problem.
      Concept is everything.
It also prevents me from getting too negative and miserable.
      Have a good day x

This is a support forum. Ignoring T is difficult, yet those who succeed to ignore it more (if just a little) will have an easier time with it. Many people believe that this is what the focus of T support forum should be, and that other types of messages are the ones that are unhelpful. Just because one does not share this belief, does not mean that there is anything wrong with this position.

Please feel free to be as nasty as you wish.
It really will not touch me.

Well I'd have to disagree. What you outlined is the TBSM (or whatever the abbreviation is, it's dead anyways and the admin basically admitted he was dead wrong on his habituation exclusivism) forum model. It solely focuses on habituation and actually discourages talking about recovery. In fact most tinnitus forums were like this. This forum was One of a few that actually allowed talks about treatments. Result: TT is the only tinnitus forum that actually matters. The rest died out or are meme'd on here.

Plus this view despite being the exact opposite of the truth, is toxically exclusive.

As we wait for T to fade, or for a cure to be discovered (or for a reliable suicide method), might as well Also try to learn not to get a strong emotional reaction upon hearing T. I agree with that part.

Christopher Holland (I am not sure whether that is his username) actually seems to believe that talking about recovery provides fake hope. I disagree with him, but I can see where he is coming from. As long as he doesn't try to shut me up, I don't want to shut Him up.

I can agree with the sentiment about certain users here. I don't take chris seriously but yeah, he's an extreme example. Even most people on the habituation side of the isle seem to dislike him.

Again I'm extremely anti-censorship so I'm very against "shutting people up" no matter what they say. I can still criticize them though.

      Cures do not exist.
Concepts do exist and can help.
Developing a concept may improve your ability to cope, and will not mean giving up hope of a cure one day.
The two are not mutually exclusive.
The problem is here and now.
      The cure is not.
A concept, a method, may well help you to cope today.
      Psychology.

When “T” hit me loud and permenant, four years ago, I was in total despair / panic mode.
I told my wife and my doctor, if there was no cure and no treatment, I wanted to go to Dignitas in Switzerland to end it.
I explored all the possible treatments I could find.
I tried acupuncture - waste of time - I just felt a little prick. (sorry).
      Masking was not possible.
Nothing was helping me at all.

I calmed down a bit, looked at the situation again, and recognised I was indulging in (FHCS.)
      Frantic headless chicken syndrome.
Without a cure, and without an effective treatment, we are only left with management, which necessitates acceptance.
I revisited meditation and self hypnosis.
These techniques have really helped me, and that is why I continue to mention them.
I’m a bit of a sucker for ‘things that work,’ and they do.
I do realise that this may be viewed as yet another banal posting on my behalf.

Be proud of yourself @Jazzer. Your tinnitus is intrusive and you have figured out a way to live with it. You are ahead of the game and don't ever look back. Tinnitus is a horrible ordeal that can ruin lives, it takes courage and patience to move past it and you have done a wonderful job!

We may have supported you, but it was YOU who wanted to change and took the action....That's the most important thing.
