Masking and Habituation

      I played a noise last night to mask my tinnitus that sound similar to it. Will that help with habituation?

      Masking and a sound machine running thru out the night and
      Valerian root or melatonin are the only way I can get a decent few hours
      Of sleep. Masking will give relief and help you habituate . Keep it at a
      Level where you still hear your tinnitus . Pink or purple noise is
      Good for high frequency hearing loss.

      I use the pink noise cause it sounded like strong waves :) i like that noise. I downloaded a app that is great for T masking and played it on my phone all night.

      There are also good masking tracks here and on YouTube many long tracks
      For nighttime.

      Cause of Tinnitus:
      (Health) Anxiety
      White, pink or brown noise doesn't help me.
      For high-pitched T, use cricket sounds.
      I found a good app called Cricket Sounds on google store.
      It is free.
      When I run this loud enough, I don't hear my T.
      But of course this can also drive you crazy.

      Ear infection
      I also use cricket sounds. It drowns out my high pitched T really well. I just have it going all night through my iPhone app. It doesn't drive me crazy, I find it soothing. Its the T that drives me crazy !!:mad:

      Does anybody listen to the radio? I listen to NPR, there are no commercials and lots of good speakers and topics. It gets my mind off the ringing and I actually stop hearing the ringing and then fall asleep.

      Ya, I've been an avid night time radio and music listener since 74, for the sole purpose of switching my attention off T.
