Matcha green tea seems to reduce my tinnitus. Maybe due to the L-Theanine? It also has a lot of antioxidants. I'd be curious to know if this works for anyone else.

I drink it occasionally but don't think it specifically reduces my tinnitus. Not to say it might work for somebody else

I drank lots of high grade sencha green tea powder tea recently (lesser quality then matcha but a lot cheaper).
No effect on T, it does make me feel calmer.

It helps with hyperacusis as well. The last one I tried was brought from China by a friend of my. Great tea.

Please be advised, matcha tea from China may be high in lead (due to their petrol policy). Matcha tea from Japan may be preferable.

Thanks! Could you recommend any specific brand of Japanese green tea?

Organic teas will of course have the least bad stuff in it, but any high-quality Japanese green tea will be pretty clean. Just go with some sencha, matcha or fukamushi sencha! Shade-grown kinds like gyokuro and kabusencha will have more l-theanine in them which is nice. Chinese tea is another matter since their soil is more polluted in general, and perhaps they are more likely to use more pesticides.. But the main factor here is quality: if the price is high then that's going to be a pretty clean tea. Tea is like a sponge for heavy metals etc, and Japan has cleaner soil which equals cleaner tea.

Matcha will contain more of everything, especially the full extent of caffeine will be felt but also the antioxidants... Note that when brewing sencha with water about 1/3 below the boiling point, not that much caffeine will be extracted but the l-theanine will!

I personally feel tea helps with my tinnitus, because it has a calming effect on my mind which makes living with the sound easier.

Have you tried other infusions (apart from tea) or herbs for your tinnitus?

I eat lots of turmeric every day for other ailments, and reishi for anxiety. I can especially recommend reishi but it needs to be a good product.

Any organic turmeric should do, maybe curcumin extracts are better but I've never tried them

I don’t think green tea really does much physically besides the caffeine. I just drink it because it tastes good and the ritual of making it every day keeps me from going totally bonkers. Ippodo and Kettl are two notable companies for high end Japanese tea. Very expensive. O-cha has good daily drinker stuff.

It helps with anxiety caused by my tinnitus. No effect on perceived volume of tinnitus.
