My Date Today :)

Hi folks,

it's your local supporter/fan fishbone

I have a date with a gal, in 2-3 hours. I slept for 1-2 hours.

I lifted weights and boxed/MMA in my backyard for 1 hour (I am not recommending for people with tinnitus to do this )

I am reading articles on how to have a good first date (Tinnitus/taking care of my folks robbed me of many years...I enjoyed helping my folks though).

My tinnitus is ringing louder than ever, but I am very excited...so to the hell with tinnitus.

I am basically going to be myself, smile at her and see what happens.

It takes lots of guts and courage to do something like this, tinnitus is beyond horrible and my ears are poor and the hearing is not so great. She also has an accent.

I got some elements stacked against me, but I couldn't care less. I try and if it works great. If not, I/we still win. We fight tinnitus by being excited and doing the best we can in our lives....

Good luck, I love your positivity. I follow your posts closely (yours amongst certain others) and you are an inspiration to people on here. If i’m honest though, I don’t think ‘Elfin’ meant to cause offence. To me it just sounded like encouragement. Don’t stop posting.

Ty for your kind words. You folks know that I love this board and it feels good to help and possibly save someone from getting the horrible tinnitus i have. I would have had half the ringing and torment, if i had this board when my saga started.

Now, unto the first date. Guys/gals this woman was very pretty..sorry very exotic and i was scratching my head.

We smiled at eachother for close to 1-2 hours. I am no pro at dating and i think i give myself a b - grade wise.

Tinnitus has kept me away from dating the women that i love. I realized that my time is now and i have to screw the ringing and take action and find that one special gal and make both of us very happy.

I do not know if there will be a 2nd date or not, i think she liked me and my spirit. If there is a 2nd date, i'm a bit in love with her already. If there is no 2nd date, i am proud of defeating tinnitus and dating a beautiful woman. I will keep doing this and I hope love can motivate members here to do something and go for it

Good to hear that you had a nice time @fishbone and just take things slowly. I don't mean to tell you how to suck eggs - a saying here in the UK. looks are important to a lot of people but it's the character of the person that really counts.

I think it's terrific that you are beginning to date now that you feel up to it and I don't know how she could not be enthusiastic about you and your wonderful, optimistic spirit. Despite your severe tinnitus, you seem like a joyous person who wants to embrace life with gusto! More power to you!! Folks,

my date went very well, but there was no chemistry between that gal and I. That's ok, the date just proved to me that as long as I am happy, excited and enjoying my time, then I am not even aware of the high pitch tea kettle from hell that lives in my head.

I am already working on my next date with a different gal and I am very excited. Greatness comes from within, no matter how things are. Tinnitus is beyond horrible and i dream of it being gone, but it has not changed my desire to love and have a woman be my companion

I am at awe with your positivity @fishbone. You are just so marvelous in the face of screaming T. You show that life goes on with T high or low. The heck with T. We go do what we like to do, and in your case going out to live your life to the fullness regardless of T. You will find your ideal gal for sure with a wonderful, positive attitude. Good luck.

I am back at it again. I went to a karaoke party last night (had ear plugs in) and a gal that I been working on for the past 1+ years was there. Her signals are so damn mixed but I like challenges and I never give up on her. Well, she got me a nice little valentines day gift and she came out specifically saying "no it's not condom."

I am hard of hearing and have electric generators buzzing out my head, but on the other hand I am very excited about actually going on a date with this gal. So I was BOLD and told her that I am taking her out next Saturday night and I have made up my mind.

This post is to encourage you folks, you ask why would it encourage us.

1. My hearing is beyond garbage and I will have to look at her lips the whole night, hope fully i can do more than just look at her lips

2. We shall be in a restaurant and it will be noisy and I am already distracted with my own LOUD sounds.

3. She's full mix signals, so it will be interesting to know what the heck is going on in her cute mind.


Sure my ears are pure hell, but i hate having no woman, no gal that can love me. My ears are very poor, they ring loud and I am punished by fibro/arthritis pain 24-7, but I feel like a little kid and full of excitement to go out with a gal that I like.

Never give up, Things can get better.....

It's not even about hitting a home run with her, it's just the fact that I am out dating and doing a normal thing, that's where the true victory comes in. My victory is YOUR victory.

I will for sure be myself, but I will not fill her in on my hearing/ear issues. If i need to ask for her to repeat herself, then I have no shame in doing that. One thing that I like to do is to control my environment, as much as I can. When I go singing karaoke, I tell the lady that the volume needs to be lower.

By simply asking in a nice way, we can achieve many things. Now, If i had asked and she played hardball and didn't listen, then i'd just not go to her house anymore. Thanks for your comment

 

I have an easier time, figuring out a rubik's cube than her

 

It's all about stepping up to the plate and swinging. we'll never hit a ball, unless we step up and try to swing for the fences....
