I've had tinnitus since September 2016.

It took me 2 years to say it didn't bother me at times. I've had numerous ups and down depending on the amount of sleep I get. The more sleep the less tinnitus.

I picked up my new hearing aids and my tinnitus is not noticeable during day. At night it's a different story but I am getting more done now. Its has sucked for 3 1/2 years but I can see things getting better with time.

Good luck everyone. Don't give up.

Yet another post confirming that targeting hearing restoration will diminish or eliminate tinnitus. Glad you’re doing better, sorry you had to wait so long.

      Good news!

What's the difference between your new hearing aids and your previous ones (I assume you had hearing aids before)?

      Hi Brightside,

Are you saying that you would recommend hearing aids for tinnitus sufferers? I have only had for two weeks.

What is your general opinion on hearing aids for tinnitus - effective or not?

If your hearing loss is within the frequencies they treat (250 Hz-8 kHz) they should be highly effective. Mine is super high pitched so they don’t help me at all.

Thank you for this information! My tinnitus is also extremely high pitched 24/7. They're telling me that a pair of $4,000 hearing aids will help me!!! So this is NOT true?????????? Thank you so much for your reply.

If you don't have damage in the range up to 8 kHz (or very little), I don't see why hearing aids would help. If you have notable damage though, even though your tinnitus is very high pitched, it can't be ruled out that they would help (as in: it might be a contributory factor, even if not directly causative).

Is there any downside to trying them?

I think my sleep levels are driving my tinnitus like this. Does anyone know why?
