      Hi everybody!

I found this forum from googling and it seems like a great place so i created a user.
I was wondering if anybody could give me some advice on my situation?

I am not sure what exactly is the cause of my tinnitus.

Excuse me if i use some words (medicinal terms or other) incorrectly. My mother language is danish, my secondary language is english.

I got assaulted on 24/06/2017 (24'th of june, 2017). I tried to get away but could not run fast enough, i got two punches on my own right side of the skull. One on the upper side of the skull and one more one, closer to the temple. I also got an arm pressed down on my throat before somebody intervened and the police came.
I was extremely disorientated when the heartless cop tried to force me to tell what happened and my saliva production had completely stopped. My mouth was so dry i could not move my tongue around so it was very hard to speak.

I did not have any signs of concussion.

July passed and when july the 30'th came around it was my birthday. I was at home in my parents house, i was resting, lying on my stomach, with my left (left chin from the perspective of my own eyes) chin resting on the couch (my point is, i was twisting my spine). So i got up, because dinner was ready. I took one sip of champagne and when i was about to sit down i got a massive pressure in my left ear(and somewhat in my head) and i felt VERY uncomfortable. I felt i was very close to fainting but i held on to the table and kept eating.
My sister drove me home and when i got home i tried naively to clean out the ear with something called remowax(it cleans the ear canal from wax). So i was lying on my right side with this liquid in my left ear and i got up to clean it out with warm water. This is when my tinnitus started on the my right ear, the one i had not treated with Remowax.

Well i was still very drowzy and tired and i went to bed, hoping the hissing would be gone in the morning when i woke up. I woke up the next day and it was still there.

      Symptoms after this incident:
In the period after this incident in my parents house i have had a lot of dizziness, vertigo and i would feel
nauseous all of a sudden and the nausea would subside pretty quickly too.
I have had and still have some kind of pull and what feels like pressure on one of my cranial nerves.
Also i have had a very stiff neck on the same side of the tinnitus ear. I have tendons(or maybe ligaments?) that are very tight, on the "border" between the neck and the skull.
My jaw has also started clicking.
Some days after this incident my lymph node close to the ear lobe got swollen. It's swollen but it's not tender.
Maybe one month after, another lymph node in the back of the skull has swollen up, it is also not tender when i touch it gently.

      Description continues:
I got an appointment with a very good ear/nose/throat doctor. He tested my hearing with a "normal" hearing test and the results did not worry him that much. He then tested my hearing with a device that sends vibrations through the mastoid bone. Those results worried him a bit more.

I talked with him afterwards and he said to me that he wants to check if i have a benign tumor on my hearing nerve. I have now been MRI scanned on both my brain and my middle ear, no tumors could be seen.

Hummm, okay i am happy that i don't have any tumors.

I have talked to a very good physiotherapist, i described my symptoms and she said it could be a locked cervical vertebrae. Unfortunately this physiotherapist could not accept new patients but i have found a different physiotherapist that i have started to go to. Last time i was there, my tinnitus was significant
      lower and "broader".

I don't know if this tinnitus is because of
      * Locked cervical vertebrae
      * A blocked eustachian tube
      * My jaw clicking
      * That i have ignored my dust allergy throughout the summer and it somehow has created a sinus infection that i cannot get rid of because of a blocked eustachian tube.

      Or maybe something completely else.

I am sorry if it is a lot to read.
3 doctors have not been willing to help me. I am becoming quite desperate. I try to have hope each day but my life is very hard now. I have suffered from clinical depression since i was 12, i am now 34 and tinnitus + clinical depression is a very dangerous cocktail for me. I try my best not to go into the victim-role but it's hard.

Can anyone give me any guidance or tips ? Maybe rule something out.

I'm sorry that happened to you! It could be because of several causes but there's no way to really know for sure. Some people have gotten tinnitus after using earwax removal drops. I remember reading this a while ago https://forums.webmd.com/3/cold-and-flu-exchange/forum/1889 This person got tinnitus after using earwax removal drops from the drugstore. I don't know how earwax removal drops themselves could cause tinnitus, but apparently it's happened to others. A doctor would probably know better.

Engage in activities to distract yourself. Surround yourself with family members and friends. It's important to have a good emotional support system when you have tinnitus. You can have a normal, happy life. It just takes a while to adjust to. If you fear you're falling into depression again, could you consider medication? Hope this goes away for you.

Cracking jaw, pressure on your joint causing inflammation can cause tinnitus as the jaw joint is by your middle ear

Thank you for your empathetic reply :) I got tinnitus in the ear that i did not treat with earwax removal drops so i'm pretty sure that remowax is not the cause.

Thank you for your reply. Not yet but it's what i am going to do when monday comes.

Sometimes it is hard to pin down to one exact cause of tinnitus.
There are many causes, single or combined, which can trigger or aggravate tinnitus including but not limited to drug reaction or side-effects from ototoxic drugs, ear wax build-up, ear or Eustachian tube infection or ETD, ear drum injury, fluid build-up in ears feeling pressured or fullness, sinus infection & congestion especially with a bad cold, TMJ, TTTS, high blood pressure or blood circulation problem, loud noise exposure or acoustic trauma/shock, head trauma & injury, neck injury or muscle problems, hearing loss, Meniere's Decease, barotrauma from sudden change of air pressure such as during landing & taking off on flights especially with blocked nose causing failure to balance the pressure changes, slapping of the ears, deep grief for the loss of loved ones, untreated sleep apnea, extreme, extended stress, anxiety & panic disorder, lack of deep REM sleep or sleep deprivation, etc., etc.

Regardless of the cause(s), it is best to remain as calm and positive as humanly possible, as more stress and anxiety can only worsen tinnitus and can become a viscous cycle of T>stress>worse T>worse stress etc. To help the process of keeping calm, you may want to try mask T if it is causing too much negative emotions to face T alone without masking sounds. You many also want to cut down on excessive use of salt, sugar, caffeine, alcohol, MSG etc. Another thing to consider is to take some supplements to help, such as NAC, Magnesium, Zinc, B12, D3 etc. If you still need something to help you calm, then consider using some natural alternatives as contained in this site. Take care. God bless.

Thank you for the tips billie48. My point of making this thread was to try to narrow down the cause of my tinnitus. It changes frequency a lot througout the day and i can again and again modulate it by massasing my shoulder, jaw, the little hole in front of the earlobe. Why i think it's because of the neck is also because last time i was at the physiotherapist my tinnitus was very peripheral and nearly gone.

Is it not allowed for members to give other members medical advice in this forum? Are there any doctors or other users with expertise in here? I am willing to pay in bitcoin for any advice.
Is editing your posts not possible in here ?

I think we can give advice but for caution one can indicate he/she can't give medical advice especially it has to do with drugs usage and other medical procedures required. It is hard enough for a doctor to help at times even with medical records and actual examination. So for members here without such background and medical training, it is just prudent to not give medical advice. We can share what we know and what we have experienced. It is not written in stone what one can or can't do here. It is just prudent to not give medical advice as most members here don't have medical training.

We do have members here in the Doctor's Corner who are doctors and they do give free answer to member's question here. But if more detail and personal consultation is required, there may be fees involved and it is up to individual doctor and the prospective member patient to work out the fee schedule.

I think you can edit your own post but after a certain time has elapsed then the edit function of that post is removed. But the success stories posts seem to have the edit function at all time.

      Update, 14/11/2017

All arrows points to this being a neck/muscular disorder or disalignment being the cause of my tinnitus, nausea and so on.

It gets worse the more i lay down. It gets a lot worse if i use my smartphone in bed. Lying in my bed like an idiot, with my neck bended and reading stupid news and other stuff. The more i sit on chairs and the more i lie down, the worse my tinnitus and other symptomes get.
I can sleep less and less hours before the tinnitus is waking me up.

I am constantly stretching my spine throughout the day, standing straight up and then slowly moving my head up and then down. It helps each time i do it but it does not solve or cure anything.

I found this and it seems very relevant in my case:http://www.tinnitusjournal.com/arti...-upper-cervical-spineoperative-management.pdf

I will go to Berlin, Stockholm or whatever i have to. The danish healthcare system is one big fcking joke. Yes, it's free but it comes with a huge price. 17 people have died on waiting lists. I am going to try to get better and solve before comitting suicide. But i am very very calm about the thought of death. Death is the only fair thing in life. Death is a sweet sweet kiss from beyond.

It seems from your description that your T is somatic in nature which should be more treatable for T than those of us who got T from other causes. There is no need to think about suicide. Death is a one way street and death by suicide will be too traumatized for your loved ones. T is not an end game. You may feel that way now but over time your perception of T on your life will change. This fact is quite obvious upon reading many success stories. Many members, myself included, were suicidal when T was new. Overtime, very few would do the unthinkable as their perception on T will likely change and their body can handle T better (and T may fade too). Try to see if you can get more regular physiotherapy or chiropratic help on the neck or do more regular neck massage. I have seen many chiropractors advertising special help for tinnitus patient here in Canada. Many herbal medicine doctors also can do some finger pressure massage.

Don't despair. Keep posting here or in the main forum and members will support you on your road to final recovery or habituation. Try to be more positive as you described earlier that your T could become much less intrusive after each physio visit. That is a good sign and a positive you can rely on. The more positive and relax we are, the less intrusive T can become. Try read up as many success stories as you can to give you hope. I include mine below in which I listed many helpful strategies. Take good care. God bless.

Thank you so much for your reply @billie48 ! It brightened up my day immensively :)

I visited my physiotherapist again today, he says that my locked cervical vertebraes feels a lot better than 14 days ago. That is good news. I asked him if i could visit him more often than twice a month, he said that it's good that there is some time in between the sessions as my neck needs some time in between, to settle.
When he does his magic (it is described as muscular-sceletal medicine on his website) on my jaw joint my tinnitus fades away. That gives me a lot of hope.
Can you give me any advice to what kind of therapy i need for my jaw joint? Like glynis pointed out, it could be temperomandibular joint dysfunction causing my tinnitus.

I have read your story billie48 and i am very happy for you that you have had success in habituating.
I'm very sorry that you had to go through the experience with your son.

Time to update this topic (if anyone cares, if not, then for my own sake)

I finally got tired of the doctors in the public sector and went to a private hospital.

I talked to a very experienced and empathetic doctor who "tested" the function of some of my cranial nerves.
He said i have impaired function on at least 2 of my cranial nerves. Mainly VIII , Nervus Vestibulocochlearis
and X, Nervus Vagus. 8'th and 10'th cranial nerves.
So the impairment on nervus vestibulocochlearis is what i believe is causing my vertigo (dizzines) and my tinnitus. It could seem probable.

He believed i could maybe have a small fracture on basis cranii or a small brain damage. I've had a CT scan and luckily there was no skull fracture and no brain damage.

I am still receiving myofascial release therapy and i've had these fcking crazy nights where i sweated like crazy, only out of my right armpit, my whole neck was cracking and pressure was travelling up and down my spine. It felt like a LSD trip gone wrong but the day after i felt a little bit more healed.

Another semi-positive thing that has happend is that the police have identified the cunt who chased me and punched me twice in the skull and then tried to choke me. The whole ordeal is videotaped in high-resolution.
The only fault i made was that after the fight i stood up, i walked over to him and punched him in his face.

It's bad for me law-wise but my primitive side enjoys that fact. And this guy has made me hate humanity more than ever. Denmark is a shitty pseudo-socialistic country.

I have begun drinking alcohol nearly everyday, mostly red wine, vodka and beer. It helps immensively on the tinnitus.
