This I find an interesting approach to find new developments in fields we are interested in. Never thought about that.
It was an interesting read!
I wonder at what stage of the whole process a company want to secure a compound through patenting it.
Is this at an early stage?

It would revert CHRONIC T ("Therefore, the object of the present invention was to identify compounds that modulate neurogenesis. It has been found that the compounds of formula I are active in this area and they may therefore be used for the treatment of .... Tinnitus....").

And prevent it ("The present invention relates to compounds of formula I and to their pharmaceutically acceptable salts, to these compounds as pharmaceutically active substances, to the processes for their production, as well as to the use in the treatment or prevention of disorders, relating to neurogenesis, Tinnitus...").

Wow if this drug is released we can make a great party at 120 db with nice music. It prevent it and revert the brain damage of MDMA and cocaine so it would be a nice night.

It's a patent that covers a potential compound and a wide range of derivatives. They also claim it cures every ailment under the sun. Not much info on this,

Apparently it binds to a certain CDK5 catalytic site. That's all we know. No animals study, nothing medically relevant as of right now.

 

If this really does cure everything, or in this case even some things, it'll never be marketed. Big pharma will make sure of that. Because a world in which people genuinely want to cure people and do good.. Well that would be crazy.

Haha no problem. I think we need a good chemist for this one.

The first thing I do is look up the people. Those three are all biotech engineers at Roche in Switzerland, a big and pharmaceutical company. I think the patent under their own names is company owned and it's not even a formula, it's an open structure that could be many many things.
I'm pretty sure they just applied for this patent to take advantage of the lack of knowledge of the patent bureau and to then sue anyone that tries to develop a cure using the same shape of molecule. Much like has been done often in the software patenting business. Given the other patents these inventors have it seems they do not have the intention of developing their 'discoveries'. Anyone else attempting this would have to negotiate a sizable fee with Roche.

Also their company profile reeks of doo gooder bull, like how good people feel working for Roche and how they have a history in philanthropy.. Meanwhile they're company is publicly traded and they practice things such as hyping the influenza craze to sell vaccines to Europe's governments and make a killing on completely useless medications.
Roche is one of those companies that is out for money and will lie, cheat, steal, and manipulate to get it. They regularly falsify clinical trial information.

I don't think these guys are on our side.

i was thinking about this, on my way home.
pharma makes big money out of illness.
but i dont think there is a big industry behind mental illness (I MIGHT BE WRONG)

I just figured out that their most sold drug (Roche), Benzodiazepine, is a major cause of tinnitus on this site. It increases the GABA metabolism which forces the body produce more glutamate. When people stop taking benzodiazepine they are left with glutamate toxicity and then, really bad tinnitus.

 

Is it reversable when things normalize in the brain?? That is the question!!

 

No, damaged CNS neurons can not be repaired conventionally.

But given that Roche is best at destroying them, maybe they can figure out how to repair the damage.

And then charge an ungodly amount of money for it.

Please calm down, there is always hope.

But looking at just Roche for help is not the answer, they used slave labor in WWII for crying out loud. They are not out to help people, the patent they applied for is there to F%^k people over that develop a cure for tinnitus using the same molecular structure. They have no idea whether it would work or not, that's why they listed a million neurological conditions it may cure.

 

Thank you for explanation. I feel extremely sorry for myself. How I led my doc to destroy me. My life is all but gone. But I want to know something. These new upcoming drugs like SF0034, AM-101 will not help us at all? I do not want to wait for a false hope..

 

Don't bother"waiting"Poyraz because it's a killer when it doesn't work out.We've all been there when Autophony bit the bullet something a lot of people here had high hopes for.Best advice is to get away from this and every few months drop in to get up to speed on current research and new treatments and then back away again.The cure isn't going to arrive anytime soon and the sooner you realise that the sooner you'll focus on you in the now and not what you may be in the future.
