      Hi everyone.

I am very new to this but I feel like a forum would help me right now. I am a 21 year old female with mild tinnitus mainly in my right ear but sometimes in both ...
I have had this for around 4 months and in the first 2 months I had dizziness for around a week which my doctor said was vertigo.
I have just come back from my hospital visit to the ENT clinic and I have resulted in having a blood test and my doctor has referred me for an mri which he said could take around 4 weeks.

I have anxiety due to recent life events which I am currently undergoing help with but now my anxiety is through the roof ☹️

Is this routine to have an MRI or could the doctor think it could be a possible tumour.

Any advice would be really appreciated.

      Thank you x

It is routine to have an MRI specifically because it is routine to want to rule out tumors. The odds of a tumor are quite low though, so I wouldn't get too worried about it yet: there are plenty of other things that can cause Tinnitus.
MRIs can also show other things, so it's not a bad idea to have some imaging data as part of the investigation/diagnosis.

      Hi!
      Thank you for your reply.

My partner did tell me it’s just routine and to not get myself in such a panic over it and that it is good that my doctor is following it up.

@Laur552 This is routine. I had a MRI performed at the request of my ENT. Your partner provided good guidance. I wouldn't worry about it.

I have never been offered an MRI due to my tinnitus. Nobody ever mentioned it.

It does not matter, cause I wouldnt want one. An MRI is supposedly very loud.

You are offered ear pluggs when doing an MRI. I have taken it twice, no problems with ear pluggs
