Hello! My name is elena and i am 21 years old.
My tinnitus began in 14/07/2016 and i don't know why because was not by a acustic trauma or ototoxic medicine. Nothing.
At first it was like the sound of a detuned radio in both ears. I went to a doctor and he said that i had a big ear wax.
In these almosy two weeks the tinnitus has changed constantly to one ear to another, one sound to another. (Acute sound to detuned radio and so on) I hear it only in quiet spaces.
Today finally the doctor has removed my ear wax but the ringing is still there altough much lower.
I want to go to a ENT this week to evaluate my ear.
I'm a little scared. Sorry for my bad english! Thanks for reading me!:huganimation:

It could take a few days after wax removal for the tinnitus to go so give it a week or two and see how it goes before seeing ENT again ......lots of love glynis

Hello @Elenna95 and welcome to the forum. Hope the ear wax removal will take care of your ringing. If not, see if you have any other possible causes for the tinnitus. There are many causes which can trigger or aggravate tinnitus including drug reaction or side-effects, ear or Eustachian tube infection, ear drum injury, fluid build-up feeling pressured, TMJ, high blood pressure or blood circulation problem, loud noise exposure or acoustic trauma, neck muscle problems, hearing loss, Meniere's, barotrauma from flight, grief for the loss of love ones, untreated sleep apnea, elevated stress, anxiety & panic disorder, etc. Another thing is that anxiety and stress can aggravate T. So do your best to stay calm and positive. Try mask your T if you haven't yet. Here are some masking suggestions:

      1) Mask at bed time so you can sleep better. Find whatever sounds/music that are soothing to you. You can use a sound machine or sound pillow for this, or a computer with speakers.

      2) If you need masking on the go, try load an ipod with nature sounds or music using itune. If you have a smart phone, you can download free APPs for soothing or T-masking sounds.

      3) If you have computer and speakers, you can try these excellent masking sounds too:

      TT's audio player: https://www.tinnitustalk.com/audioplayer/

or this online sound library, particularly the self-mix nature sounds: http://mynoise.net/

or download free sound generator ‘aire freshener’: http://www.peterhirschberg.com/mysoftware.html

or search youtube with words like 'tinnitus masking sounds', 'white noise', 'rain sound' etc.

      Hi there!

I have a feeling this will go away, dont worry hang on....if its due to ear wax and its been carefully removed, it should go away. Any other factors like hearing loss or any jaw/tooth problem ? Get those checked out if you want to.

Keep yourself busy, and dont fret.....its all gonna be alright.

      Hugs and best wishes!

Hello. Don't be afraid. It's nothing to worry about if the cause is ear wax. You should be ok in a few days. Nice meeting you

      Hi Elena,

No problem, yeah goto an ENT and get the hearing checked out, it would give you some answers. The trouble with T is that answer are never easy to find. My T started April 2016, and it is still there, though at a much lower level. One thing that has helped me is anti anxiety meds (Busriprone and occassioanlly Valium). Dont be afraid to ask for these from your GP if you need them, its ok to take them, specially in the beginning stages.
Also look at some of Julian Cowen's videos on Youtube. Very helpful.

Best of luck for your appointment and keep us posted. :huganimation:

:huganimation:Hi! I want to make a little update. On Tuesday I went to ENt and left it very happy, after some tests he said I had nothing and actual words : "You have an inner ear with an impressive hearing":X3: so no hearing loss!!
then he prescribed me a food supplement with ginko to improve circulation and prednisone 50mg for 5 days, then 30 for 5 days and told me to return in 3 months.
In this 3 weeks T has gone from 5/10 to 2/10 in the right ear and I hear only when i am in total TOTAL silence and when I lean on the pillow. in the left ear it is like the sound of a seashell and is a 3/10 . At night I do not sleep very well because of anxiety and prednisone (i am a very anxious person) but i am very happy for no hearing loss or inner damage.

From here I encourage all the people who are going through this and no doubt we will overcome ! thanks for the support! I'll stay by this forum , kisses from Spain!!:huganimation:

You can try to play some relaxing music or nature sound at bed time to help you sleep. Also if needed, try some natural alternatives to help you calm during bed time and hopefully can sleep better.
you can try natural alternatives such as Lemon Balm, Valerian, Hops, Catnips, Passion Flower, Chamomile, Lavender, Kava, Melatonin etc. You can google search each of them to know their use and see if you can take them as a supplement. Check out this site on using natural herbs for helping to sleep or to calm the nerves.
