      Greetings everybody,

Just discovered this site and hoping for some advice.

Had the flu and got my first ear infection 3 years ago (and every year since!). Doctor proscribed amoxicillin for it. Went away after 3 courses, but I'm left with ringing in one ear from any loud noises mid to high frequency. I have dealt with seasonal allergies all my life. The ringing isn't constant, only with loud noise. Volume levels others find okay cause me pain.

I can do the "valsalva" trick and both ears pop. Before releasing the pressure, I notice the ringing in my right ear is 90% gone with the same noise level. Once I swallow, the pressure returns to normal and the ringing is back. Things like piano music especially hurt and I get a very high pitch noise in my right ear.

My hearing test shows significant hearing loss at 8K on my right ear (this frequency causes severe pain also), all other bands are close to the "normal" line. Left ear normal at all frequencies.

Any ideas? Is this something that can be fixed? What kind of doctor should I see for help?
Been enduring the pain for several years with no improvement.

      Thank you!
