Hey all! I've had noise induced mild tinnitus for about 6 months now and I'd say there has been improvement.

I don't think I'd mind having this for the rest of my life since I can only hear it when I try to sleep or in a quiet room. I also do not have any measurable hearing loss.

However, it would be nice if it would just go away and I can experience silence again.

I've just been wondering if it is truly possible for noise induced tinnitus to actually go away completely especially after months or years of having it.

I've never actually read someone saying that theirs went away completely, but more like just having it lower to the point of my level (very mild).

Any links, stories, or anything of that sort are welcome here I'm just very curious.

That is great that is Mild, it can go away but usually it lowers to mild, sometimes however it stays constant throughout, or in some sad cases it keeps increasing (rare). I must tell you that you are extremely lucky to have mild tinnitus as you can live a normal life, try to habituate and move on. protect your ears from noises such as clubs, concerts, cinema, loud venues, vaccum, blender, fire alarms, etc. IF you keep trying to get rid of it and if you obsess over it, you can permanently increase it to moderate or even worse severe tinnitus.

Yeah it is nice that it is just mild. Still hoping that maybe one day it does go away completely like I read on some posts that it has left completely. I'm going to be starting my second year at my university and I'm definitely going to calm down on going to parties so much. Maybe it is a blessing that I am going to force myself to focus on my studies instead now haha. Just planning to buy good quality ear plugs now.

Yeah I've read before from the subreddit to some success stories here that it has gone away completely. Most people just do not care enough to report that it has gone away though lol. I mean if mine has gone away completely I'd probably just stay away from anything T related as well.

I have two friends with T, their T never went away. It is mild according to them and they live normal lives, but do avoid loud/hazardous sounds.

My T is the same, acoustic trauma, I'm nearing 4 months now and it's considerably quieter.
I think T can go away, as long as we protect our ears.
It's crazy because my friend knows a guy who goes to raves a lot, puts his ears to the speakers (seriously, nuts) and everything. He told me he had T for 2 months after doing that before, but it went away. He's so lucky, can you imagine the damage that must've done? So I think, if his went away, then we do have hope :)

noise induced tinnitus may go away, but the hearing loss won't recover and in my opinion that is worse.

In my case it would be a miracle because I can barely even perceive any hearing loss. The noise that gave me my hearing damage was so high pitched that barely anything in the natural environment makes such a noise. If my T went away my life would essentially be back to normal. The only difference is now I have a slightly harder time making out speech over background noise.

Well, I'm just hoping for the best, that we get the news that fx322 works perfectly, restores all hearing loss and eliminates our shitnitus. Then we can go back to our lives and be super appreciative of everyday without shitnitus.

Maybe the brain can adjust to HL as it occurs naturally and tinnitus is like the brain not adjusting because the noise induced HL is so abrupt.

It just seems crazy to me that understanding the ear is more complicated than putting humans on the moon.

I believe the cure or at the very least a super effective treatment will be put out/discovered in our lifetime. We're only going to understand more about our ears and brains in the future.
