As many people know, the recent war in eastern Ukraine was the site of many battles. I fought in the entire war from 2014-2015 in the DNR for the autonomy of Donetsk from Ukraine. I have had T for three months now and have found this forum and I am confused to the cause of my tinnitus. Either I have gotten it from operating weaponry or my clicky jaw. Plz help

Large caliber rifles&machine guns, +30 years of loud clubs
Did you use any ear protection while firing those weapons ?
Does your tinnitus sound like a hiss - like air coming out of a tire ?

Always had ear plugs when using them but put on headmuffs for heavy weapons like Dshk or RPG

My tinnitus has faded quite a bit after habituating to it but please give advice if I should continue to use weapons

Most likely the use of heavy artillery did you in + the stress of being in a combat zone for many months (bad food, cigarettes, alcohol,...)
Plus god knows what kind of chemicals/heavy metals/exhaust fumes you were exposed to in the combat zone.

Were you in loud situations situations before and after your deployment (manual labour, loud music, etc)?
Hearing damage develops over time, you just need one final push over the edge at some point.
Are you sensitive to loud noise or some frequencies?

      Udachi!

It makes me mad that there is no cure especially for veterans of war. They go out and risk their lives only to come home and be plagued with Tinnitus.

i fired bazookas back then in army - very very loud stuff I would think earplugs + ear muffs isn't going to prevent damage if you do it for years on , fortunately we did it only during one day - the noise just cuts through the plastic of the muffs like a knife through butter

Sorry to say, but T is a great mystery and the causes of it can vary a lot and sometimes they can't be explained at all. In your case I would say it is either the NOISE and/or STRESS.

If you aren't sure what has caused your tinnitus, then treat what is treatable. If it is the jaw, and there is a treatment, then you can have that worked on if a specialist thinks it might help. If neither can be fixed for now, then I guess it doesn't matter. Make sure to update us on your progress.
