I had tinnitus due to gunfire onboard ship during ww2, have a disabulment pension for it, probably
the best thing about it, i'm afraid you just have to accept it, it wont go away, if it went after 30
years now i would wonder where it had gone. it does mean i have to have expensive hearing aids
to get by, never mind i am nearly 86 so there we are.
      Best wishes to fellow sufferers.

I find your first ever post on this site rather interesting considering there have been a few people over the years who have reported their Tinnitus completely disappearing after trying various treatments. Some also have said it has gone away all by itself even after many years. That shows that a cure is possible. Many things thought incurable have been fixed eventually because people believed and worked hard to overcome them. I'm curious as to why you would join a site just to tell everyone to just accept this horrific condition?

Also if you are 85 then that means you were 12 when ww2 started and have had Tinnitus for at least 67 years???? Curious as to why you mentioned 30 years and have written under your name that you have only had Tinnitus since 1988?

Hello, Mr. Avery, and welcome to Tinnitus Talk!

That is indeed a long time to have dealt with this affliction we all share.

I'd like to know if you have had success with your hearing aids, and if they are a combination hearing aid and tinnitus masker. Do you have hearing loss along with the tinnitus? Is it in both ears?

Best wishes to you, and glad you joined us!
