I have had tinnitus for decades. I have noticed that about 20 minutes after eating salty foods the ringing will start. It's like flipping a switch.

Also, something that will set it off immediately, both for myself and my wife (who doesn't normally have tinnitus) is using a cell phone app called "Dog Whistle". It emits various frequencies of sound, some of which is beyond hearing range, but still is enough to set off the ringing pretty bad.

      Hope this info helps others.

Welcome to the forum. Yes excessive use of salt has been known to cause or aggravate tinnitus. The dog whistling effect may be a form of resonance or it is noise exposure. Thanks for sharing.
