Search for a State of Peace Through Stillness

For those of us who have been severely damaged - who live in a state of continuous inner head noise - the experience of ‘quietness ’ is no longer a possibility
- let alone the silence we once knew and cherished.

Perhaps the best we can now do is to search for a state of peace - through stillness.
I practice this daily.
Sometimes I seem to come close to achieving it - sometimes not.

“To know yourself as the Being underneath the thinker,
the stillness underneath the mental noise,
the love and joy underneath the pain,
is freedom, salvation, enlightenment. Love.”

Eckhart Tolle

 

If I remember correctly, Eckhart also has tinnitus in one ear

 

Silence is a myth. In today's environment noise pollution is rampant. With tinnitus the silence is gone. Through many days of being non silent the struggle was mind wrecking.

But through that time I discovered that if I have a morning of peace then a 45 minute of thai chi relaxes the nervous system and helps me to ignore the ringing. When my father was alive and suffered with tinnitus he also sat in silent thoughts ignoring the tinnitus he said if I forget it the ringing becomes tolerable. I have taken that on and most days I can ignore the ringing.

Just my thoughts and trials.

 

W e are caught in a hurricane, I always try and remember that at the center is pure calm.
