So basically, the situation is that I am scheduled to perform 2 songs in a Loud jazz band. I'm talking real big, real loud. Before, I would just sing my songs without earplugs and then put the plugs in after my songs were over, assuming 10 minutes of exposure wouldn't be too bad. Unfortunately, I learned the hard way that that's not what I should do.

I know that Ideally, I would get some musician's earplugs, but I can't in time for the gig for 2 reasons:

      1) I'd have to get them custom molded, and I can't get that all done in a week's time.

      2) I'm broke as hell and the earplugs would be expensive.

Are there any cheaper musician's earplugs I could wear/get in a shorter period of time? The foam ones stop me from hearing my voice well.

If you have hearing damage then perhaps it is time to quit the jazz band.

Foam ones would be fine. I’m playing in a Death Metal band at the minute, two weeks ago I got to a venue and realised I’d forgotten my custom plugs. Just bought a 3m foam set from a nearby pharmacy. Not a bother on me after the gig and I could hear everything on stage. Get some foam plugs so and enjoy the gig.
