      Hey everyone.

So I've had T for a little over 2 weeks now and it had gone down a bit to the point where I could probably deal with it. But last night I was convinced to go to my friends for his Bday and it was pretty loud with people yelling and music and such. Anyways I forgot about my ear plugs and when I got home my I noticed that my T had came back up to the same level as when it all started. Now I'm extremely disappointed at myself for not leaving earlier (I was there for a couple hours) . Has anyone had a similar experience with a spike like this that went back to where their T was before? Before this I had some hope that it would still go away but now I think I've screwed myself of that happening. Also would Prednisone be of any help with this kind of spike?
      Thanks.

your T is new you should give it some rest as not to go some where to loud especially if it was through sound trauma..

I know, I've been avoiding loud sounds as much as possible and have been doing really good with wearing ear plugs, but I made this mistake so I'm just trying to see if anyone has recovered from a spike like this. Also if prednisone or anything else helps with T spikes

You could consider taking prednisone not only because of your new 'trauma', but because you got T only two weeks ago. It could still help for the initial damage.

Hi guys, I have had tinnitus since july 4th after attending what has the most non-necesarry loud concert at a local rock bar. Huge amps plus the houses' speakers. It was annoying at first but it went down, i could spend the whole day without noticing and at night it was not a big deal at all, with the AC and fan on, i could sleep easy, but today after I played in my church's band at a moderate volume, not loud at all, it was comfortable....my T flaired up, I am worried, i am a bit nervous, I am very tired after playing volleyball with a friend and all i want to do is sleep and not even with the music on and the AC and fan on I can catch a minute of sleep.

I feel ya, hopefully this is a temporary spike for us. I can't really say much else since I only got T 2 days before you so I don't have enough insight. Anyways, best wishes.

Well, it happened again.. A steel bar unexpectedly fell at work and made a really loud noise while I wasn't wearing my ear plugs (TRT specialist told me to take them out when I am not going to be around loud noise at work to help normalize my hyperacusis) and now my T is ringing louder again and I have a slightly muffled feeling in my right ear. Hope this is temporary. Wish me the best

Eh, sometimes we feel like we want to withdraw from this loud, modern ,noisy world and go to live in the countryside, right? A steel bar? How big? How far were you from it ? Did other people react the same way ? You know, with H we're never really objective..Sometimes it's hard to say if it's really the noise that caused a spike or our anxiety about the event.. It will be better..your condition is so fresh..

I would "normalize" under better conditions like at home where you can control the acoustic environment better. Jack your TV volume if you really believe this to be true, has to be better for you than loud sudden bangs.

I have had H for a couple of years....noise does not help, I find the opposite to be true, I guess we are all different. Two days in absolute quiet and my ears can take way more sound. The advise they give you is just a theory (no proof that this even helps H).

Fair enough, she called it the misophonia protocol. Maybe it will help maybe it won't. But I do notice my T is slightly louder overall when I overprotect my ears all day. And as for better conditions, I have been good at this in the past but it was just one of those unlucky unexpected situations.

I hear ya. It was a steel bar that divides up the work trailer, about 6 feet long and I was only a few feet from it (inside the trailer). Just my boss and I, and even before T and H I noticed it was loud, obviously not quite this loud though.

      Hey!

Can I ask you about your spike that you mentioned here? Did it subside? I have the same worry that my spike won't go down.. if yours did, how long did it take? It has been 2 days for me since it went up due to a defective fire alarm :(

      Hello!
Yeah, my spike gradually went down over the course of a few weeks, but not quite back to where it was before. With that said, most of my spikes so far have went down completely, so I'd say there is a good chance yours will get better; either back to where it was before or at least close to it. I was at the party for a couple hours which is a long time and I think that is one of the reasons it never quite fully recovered. It's only been 2 days since yours and I doubt you were around the sound for long so just try to give it more time.

Im sorry to hear about your troubles, but stay strong and be positive
