      Tinnitus Since:
      12/2017
      Cause of Tinnitus:
      Airplane Flight
I flew a long way to San Francisco 2 months ago on a small plane. I got seriously short of breath on the way there. Had a cheap seat so I changed my flight coming back to a good seat on a bigger plane. Still had the same issue but not nearly as bad.

A day after getting back I noticed my ears ringing. I checked my blood pressure. Suddenly had high blood pressure for the first time. Was getting a little dizzy sometimes. I went to the doctor and got medicine. My blood pressure is normal now with medicine. But my ears are still ringing. I don't know if any of these things are related -- plane, blood pressure, or ringing in my ears -- but I had a clean bill of health a month before the trip. I don't think my hearing is affected but I haven't had it tested. I don't take any other meds, don't have allergies, never had ear or hearing problems in the past.

Just wanted to post this here in case anybody has an explanation or in case others have a similar experience.

Hi @alvez , That is an interesting problem. I have seen many people post here wondering if it was safe to fly with tinnitus, but I do not recall anyone claiming that a flight caused tinnitus (I may have missed the posts, or may have forgotten, I am getting older).

May I suggest you use the search feature to perhaps locate posts form people with similar experiences as yours?

There is good news, most people's tinnitus will clear up by itself in a year or so. Try not to get too stressed about it.

@Michael Leigh has a number of great posts on tinnitus here, and are a great place to start to earn more about this affliction. This is a good one for general information.

I would highly recommend using the search feature to seek out threats started by Michael, as you will find a wealth of information there.

Maintaining a positive attitude is important as well.

@billie48 wrote his success story demonstrating how positivity helped him habituate.

and the following on negativity and tinnitus
