Has anyone tried this? Sounds like worth a try to many of us.

This may help you cope by teaching one to face adversities better but they are not real treatments that lower tinnitus loudness.

This could be a great tool to achieve habituation.

Why? Because you have an app that gives you some happy advice?
You think those who have seen pychologists but can't habituate because the T is too severe will be helped by a fancy app? Come on ;)
This seems more like something for an athlete, who tore his ACL and can recover...
T and recovery, thats not a one way street.

I disagree. Personal resilience is is vital when suffering, whether it is T or something else. I haven't tried this app, but if it can help to build personal resilience, then it most likely will help T sufferers. Remember also that our brains and minds are VERY different, so this can help some people, but obviously not all.

I totally agree with @SoundWave: Resilience, flexibility and a positive outlook are among the most vital traits a human being can have. Medical researchers at the New England Centenarian Study in Boston have found that these attributes are among the things most common among centenarians (people who live to 100 and beyond). In fact, its a better predictor than race, diet, educational and economic background.

Bad shit comes for all of us. Learning to deal with it in a way that is healthy and proactive is critical. This app actually sounds a lot like cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) I have no idea if the app works. But I'll tell you that CBT sure worked for me.

"Do not waste your money!! This game might be great if it worked or if there was someone supporting the app so users could actually play it. When I entered a support request I got back the message:
      "Hello Hero!
Thanks for reaching out. Unfortunately, our epic adventure has taken us off the grid and deep into the technological wilderness. We aren't able to respond to emails right now. We're sorry in advance for any frustration this causes."
I cannot play since there is an issue with this app. To view most of my quests I have to select "all quests" which I wouldn't mind but they are not counted unless they are listed on the main page. Therefore, when I reach the goal of completing 3 quests it is not reflected on the main page and does not give me my new goal in order to proceed."

Yes, always the same "attitude" trashtalk. It's the attitude, not the monster-T, of course. We're all weak, those wo cant habituate to monster T.blabla.

But I guess we don't need another discussion about it. Good for you that you habituated tho.

It's all depended on how bad your tinnitus is. I always believe it depends on the loudness and I don't care what TRT says, as I've had 10/10 tinnitus 5/10 and then 1-2 out of them, then 0-1 out of them. So I can ensure you, the loudness is what matters.

Yeah, I never said that the degree of noise didn't matter, nor did I say that adopting a good attitude is all that's required to habituate to "monster" T.

If you don't think that conscious, willful thought patterns have some impact on the progression and severity of any illness, including severe, chronic pain, then you are simply misinformed.

      (emphasis mine)

My point is not that you can think your way out of incapacitating sensory input -- you clearly cannot. My point is that persisting in fatalistic, pessimistic, negative thinking literally restructures your brain and changes your entire body in ways which make pain more painful and distress more distressing.

Again, you are welcome to choose to reject that, but then you are clinging to an unsubstantiated view which directly contradicts dozens of imaging studies of the brain.

I am vitriolic on this subject, because just as someone continually thinking to themselves "I am just totally fucked, my life is horrible and there is nothing I can do to feel better" directly increases their own suffering, having that view reiterated over and over in a public space which is populated by fragile, unhappy people literally causes them physical harm.

I barely drink anymore, actually, because it was becoming counterproductive in terms of my goals with my meditative and professional practices. I like a beer as much as the next guy, but, you know. Alcohol is carcinogenic and makes me write shittier code.

Very reasonable; it took me quite a while to acquire a taste for alcohol, and the problem is that once you do, you're pretty wired for it in the long term.

I think that anyone with serious issues with tinnitus who is worried about the long-term progression, is not thinking very clearly if they keep drinking; the research has been done and it's convincing.

Long-term use of alcohol is associated with various kinds of neurotoxicity and structural changes to GABA function which are probably likely, at least in some cases, to worsen tinnitus.

Alcohol is a pretty terrible drug, enough so that if it had just been invented yesterday, it would almost certainly be illegal in most developed countries.

Sure; as I've said before, there's longitudinal data on the impact of contemplative practices on very severe chronic pain conditions, and I find it convincing.

But, we are right back to the circular argument which is frequently made on here, "anyone who claims to handle tinnitus and still have a decent quality of life, clearly doesn't have real, severe tinnitus". EG, the "no true scotsman" fallacy.

To be more topical, I signed up for SimplyBetter, and I'm not very impressed with it, looks like pseudoscience bullshit to me (which doesn't mean it might not be helpful to certain people for certain things... but so is homeopathy and reiki and acupuncture).
