The Brain Seems to Remember Tinnitus Frequencies

I wonder if anybody else notices this, but I had a tinnitus tone that went away but if I hear the tone again, say from a tone generator - on low volume of course - it can reactivate that tinnitus tone.

Does anyone have an explanation for this? Is it bad to hear sounds similar to your tinnitus frequencies?

 

Yes, I have this. It's like musical ear syndrome. My tinnitus would sometime mimic external sounds.
