I spoke with Dr. Rohe for over an hour one day by phone for a consult. He is the real deal and a great guy, knowledgeable and decent. I recommend him highly.

It's certainly useful to know, but it's not more important than the actual therapy...
For your insurance question you should ask your insurance, since you may have a different insurance from other folks who are his patients. Coverages vary a lot across insurance companies and plans.

The Dr. will talk to you if you arrange a time when he is free. I spoke with him, he seems nice enough.
I dont remember what his therapies were...

I only mention it because if insurance does not cover it, such as in my area, there are other options for similar treatment such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy which is often covered by insurance. It was for me and save me thousands of dollars in that regard. As for maskers, which one pays for out of pocket anyway, you can usually get those from a hearing aid company.

Don't get me wrong, I'm all for this Dr. helping people like us. I'm just saying that there are other options out there if need be.

I went and saw him 2 weeks ago. He is very nice. 8 week course is about $625. One hour each week.
He will Skype to your computer if your to far away.
      Consultation was $150.00.
He also sells hearing aids that mask the sound.
I will probably start next week.
I need something. I don't think I could hurt any worse. 2 1/2 months now with Very high pitch ringing.
Keep me posted on your progression if you can. Good luck to both of us.

No huge revelations... But he his a decent human being with a great knowledge of tinnitus and hyperacusis- he has no desire to sell anything and would rather save you money with sound therapy. He runs his own Tinnitus charity organization for free on his own time.

Good to hear he is a decent human being....there are a few left :) and of course its stated he personally has tinnitus so no doubt his empathy is heart felt. In the face of no cure, you mention his focus is on sound therapy. Can you describe his general recommendations? You say he doesn't sell anything but Steve above says he does sell hearing aids with sound 'masking'...often used synonymously with the term sound 'enrichment'. Does he fit and/or recommend special hearing aids with sound enrichment? Any idea what brand or model? Does he suggest sound enrichment machines for the home or sleeping? I am curious where he takes his focus on sound enrichment if this is his suggested therapy? I presume he doesn't just offer sound enrichment at his office and if sound enrichment is the best therapy for tinnitus, what are his recommendations for integrating this into the lifestyle of someone with tinnitus?
      Thanks

He told me he'd rather hook someone up to an iPod for sound therapy than sell them wearable maskers though I'm sure he'd offer that if you chose. I don't believe he has T though he is very active for the cause. I consulted with him over whether or not to continue performing with a loud wedding band. He charged me $50 for a telephone consultation that lasted well over an hour and a half. Gave me his time for a cheap fee. I regard him highly. I'm sorry I don't have answers for all your questions .

I live in AZ and just spoke with him. He does have t and has used TRT. Since my onset is new and could be linked to pregnancy he told me he didn't want to really get into treatments with me as he thinks this is highly likely to resolve on its own. He told me if it doesn't to not worry, he can and will help me. He is checking in with me in 5 weeks.

I spent over an hour on the phone with me, listened to my fears and was so nice wen I cried!!

By the way, he contacted me to Check in after I emailed him avery desperate, scared email.
He spent over an hour with me and told me to contact him if I need anything. No mention of money....when I asked about cost he said don't worry....I'm her to help...if the time comes we can figure it out.
