      Hi Everyone,

My tinnitus started randomly one afternoon at work around 3 weeks ago. I went into full on panic mode (and I still am really. Anxiety has been through the roof, heart palpitations the lot)

It stopped for a few days last week but then I noticed my right ear was hurting. Did a lot of reading up online and it seemed to be an infection of my ear canal (Most likely by me prodding and poking around in my ear!) I used some EarCalm spray which has cleared up the infection but now the tinnitus is back.

It's very feint so at the moment I can work and be outdoors without hearing it, but the minute I get back home and shut the front door... there it is :-( It seems to get louder the harder I listen for it which then makes me panic and feel like I'm going mad.

I went to the doctors this morning and she said my ears look perfect, no wax in them at all or infection. She said the noise is a little disruption and more often than not it disappears and can take up to 6 weeks.
The thing is, the noise sounds more like it's in my head than my ear now.
I'm sleeping with an air purifier on at night which just about masks it at night.

I'm just so nervous now about loud noises and the fear of it getting worse. I know it's only been 3 weeks but it's consuming my whole life. Last night from the moment I got home from work until the moment I went to bed I did not stop thinking about it as much as I tried to focus on other things. I have been so miserable. I haven't been to the gym, I haven't been eating properly, I haven't been food shopping. I just want it to stop :'-( I was having a fairly good day at work yesterday and I was smiling and then I thought about being at home later and having to put up with the tinnitus and my heart sank and I stopped smiling and just felt awful.

I really hope this stops :-(

      Hi Kirsty7,
Tinnitus from a ear infection can take a few weeks to settle and any mucous still in your tubes will clear up in time.

You can help by doing steam inhalation to clear your tubes a couple of times and should help settle your tinnitus.....lots of love glynis

Thank you Glynis! It started before my infection but I wonder if it came back as a result of the infection... definitely worth a try though :)
