Welcome to the forum. Here we understand what you are going through as many members here have been where you are, myself included. At this new phase of T, your brain tends to think that T is a mortal threat. So it does its job of protecting you by zooming in on the threat and focus or monitor on it all the time. That tends to amply the loudness and the intensity of the ringing as all the senses are focussed on it. I think to prevent from focusing on T, perhaps try masking it with nature sounds or music that you like. Have you done any masking yet? If you haven't then here are some options. Take good care. God bless.

      1) Mask at bed time so you can sleep better. Find whatever sounds/music that are soothing to you. You can use a sound machine or sound pillow for this, or a computer with speakers.

      2) If you need masking on the go, try load an ipod with nature sounds or music using itune. If you have a smart phone, you can download free APPs for soothing or T-masking sounds.

      3) If you have computer and speakers, you can try these excellent masking sounds too:

      TT's audio player: http://www.tinnitustalk.com/audioplayer/

or this online sound library, particularly the self-mix nature sounds: http://mynoise.net/

or download free sound generator ‘aire freshener’: http://www.peterhirschberg.com/mysoftware.html

or search youtube with words like 'tinnitus masking sounds', 'white noise', 'rain sound' etc.

There's no data to show anxiety can cause tinnitus. Can anxiety make you fixate on it, notice it more or be more upset...yes. Anxiety and depression can cause your body to deteriorate in a sense as you don't eat as well or exercise and your body reacts because of it.

Have you always had this but only recently felt more fixated on it? No noise trauma I'm assuming, but head injuries, even mild concussions with no loss of consciences, can cause tinnitus, especially what many I know describe as "head tinnitus", a type of electric, low freq. sound buzzing in their head more so than their ears.

If not that, some just have some type of noise because of their genetic makeup and the way their body is. Some can have it from medications or infections or a tumor.

It's best to try to conclude what caused it and when, and if you can absolutely not find a cause like I listed above it may be nothing at all but something you've always had but are now more aware of, which means your brain is now focused on it which makes you feel as if it's worse or new.

Thanks for replies I had anxiety from last 2 years and I never heard of tinnitus in my life .

Ok so it started when I was talking to my cousin on the phone he told me that he got Tinnitus and how annoying it is for him and he told me that one guy commit suicide suffering from it

So in the middle of conversation I heard a buzz in my ear And had a panic attack after while I was sitting in a silent room.

So When I went to bed then I heard a electric type feeling in my brain I started focusing on it after a while I fall asleep .

When I woke up next day i put fingers in my ear just to check if I still hear it but it was not there and then after a while I heard that buzz again I panicked and started smoking since that day I been smoking a packet a day bcos I didn't know what was going on its been a month now .

Now I hear some type of crickets in my right ear and electric buzz in head and sometimes eeeee in my left ear on and off . I started taking citalopram for my anxiety after panic attack on that day .I know this all sounds weird but I am not lying .i checked sounds of tinnitus on YouTube but none of it matchs what I hear .

I have always be a worried person and now this is making me going insane and sucidal .

Please give me any advice I don't know how long I can stand this for its so annoying

You need to deal with a few issues.

Anxiety and panic - this will get your T more aggravated as stress is no good for T. If you can't deal with the anxiety, try to get some help from natural alternatives if you don't want to take the benzos or anti-depressants from doctors. You can try natural alternatives such as Lemon Balm, Valerian, Hops, Catnips, Passion Flower, Chamomile, Lavender, Kava, Melatonin etc. for anxiety and for calming to sleep.

Sleep deprivation is bad for T. So try your best to get good sleep. Natural alternatives like Melatonin has helped many. If it doesn't work, doctors can prescribe sleeping pills to help. Good REM sleep will usually help calm the T a bit.

Start using masking to help you deal with the stress of hearing the T sound. It is not helpful to often suggest to the brain that you will go insane or suicidal if T continues, because doing so will cause the brain to zoom in on T as a mortal threat and T will appear front and center in your senses. Mask it as much as you can. I and many members would tell you during the initial days, we masked all the time to get us not so stressful. Treat it as a new normal. Even doctors who have developed T posted that masking the loud spikes is like a new normal, as here:
      http://www.tinnitustalk.com/threads/curing-tinnitus.4136/page-5#post-40854

You will need to get more positive as most people, millions out there with T don't kill themselves. Don't let your friend's negative outlook cause you to think that T is an end game. Many members here with severely intrusive T initially are getting better over time. Time plus some positive strategies will help the recovery. If anything, there are new drugs on the horizon right now. New drugs like AM-101, OTO-311, RL-81, SF0034 are all either being tested or researched. So the medical/pharmaceutical world is catching up on tinnitus with these new drugs on the horizon. Check out the Treatment section on TT for more detail. Also read up as many success stories as you can to know that it is possible to get better and reclaim your life. I include my success story below on how I get better from ultra high pitch dog whistle T and severe hyperacusis. So T is not an end game. You can get better. Believe it. Hang in there. Take good care. God bless.
