      Neck/Jaw misalignment
My tinnitus is from a jaw mis-alignment, although I am doing way better I still have tinnitus after seeing the dentist and getting the splint thing... My question I want to know is will my tinnitus ever go away even if my jaw is still just a little mis-aligned?

I have the same exact problem too it seems. Did your tinnitus reduce at all after treatment? If it's the alignment, there's a pretty good chance it will reduce/go away.

I wasn't sleeping at all basically for 2 months... My T has gotten better, the tone of the T is different and I've gotten use to it. Its just a little annoying... This problem started 4+ months ago and I had the splint thing now for 2+ months...

Improvement on this kind of thing is slow. It could take up to two years. Is your jaw still misaligned? The fact it improved is a great sign.

Yeah my jaw is 90% better, it will prob never be perfect again... The problem is the dentist didn't want to tighten the splint anymore. Tighenting the splint again wouldn't help with the T anyways.

How bad was your alignment? Did your jaw hurt before treatment? And is your tinnitus unilateral or bilateral? Maybe addressing these questions will help see if your tinnitus will go away.

I'm not sure... My jaw wouldn't open only like 60%, sometimes at night my jaw would only open like a 1/2 inch..

Tinnitus from a bad jaw could take a while to resolve. Try doing TMJ massages to help it.

I have the retroactive T or whatever. The T that gets louder with sound.. If I'm in a quiet room I can barely hear it, if I'm watching tv, the louder the tv volume the louder the T.

I don't think so. It should be fine. With the splint it should go more. Without it I don't know.

I have a question for you two or anyone with jaw misalignment. Were they able to diagnose that with x-rays and a physical exam or did you have to get a cone beam scan?

U think so?? The splint has already been adjusted 2 times and it prob won't be adjusted again. The TMJ dentist said they don't want to tighten it too much.

image.jpeg I have a splint that looks like this. I have TMD on my left side but unsure if it is causing my noise. It could be inner ear caused or possibly neck nerves/muscles. I can't stand my present noise. My left jaw is crunchy with crepitus but still unsure if this is causing my primarily left sided weird noises. So frustrating. I'm getting my C2-C4 facet joint nerves ablated if test nerve blocks help. Good luck to everyone with potential TMJ disorders causing their noise.

I was to this Dr. :http://mncranio.com/
I contacted this one and may schedule a appt. http://www.medcentertmj.com/about-tmj/tmj-management/

I believe there's a good way to tell if your tinnitus is being influenced by TMJ. According to a study people with tinnitus who could increase it by biting down have a >50% chance of reducing their tinnitus with TMJ treatments.

Came across this regarding tooth filling or cracked root causing tinnitus. Someone mentioned this once to me and I had a scan of some type costing over $200. I will check it out again. My noise is very loud on left side with some crossover to right.

Hi! Would your T get louder when you would open your mouth fully? Since december 21 I started having T on my left ear after years of T only on the right one, but now whenever I fully open my mouth, it triggers it. Most of the time it is silent or at least unnoticeable, but sometimes it happens even without opening my mouth, it justs starts and stays there, like at the moment, after being silent throughout the whole day (00;29 am as I type). By the way, did you get improvements? Did it go away?
