Tinnitus Locked in the Brain

I was just thinking last night, got question. I see there are many ways of getting tinnitus. What I was thinking is once you find out there is no cure or treatment, your brain locks in the noise.

So it stays in your memory until you forget about it. Even after you take care of the issue that caused your tinnitus, you are still stuck with tinnitus. This my first thread.
