Hello, my mom has had severe subjective Tinnitus for over a year. She is 60 with poor posture and thin and weak and soft spoken. She has become depressed. We have gone to a multitude of doctors and physical therapists because it is absolutely unbearable for her.

On a scale of 1-10 she has it at "15". She deals with it by constantly watching TV, taking aspirin and baths. The lowest it has been is a 1, for 12 hours, when the therapist did deep work on her neck muscles by her ears. But it only happened once. Were not sure if its repeatable.

She has pulsating tinnitus, hears motors, crickets, wind, rain, clicking, buzzing all at once and seperately but no bells sound. She has heard bells once only and it was terrible and she definitely would have shot herself if that continued she said. I do not believe this stems from a psychological cause. But we are trying a last resort of Hypnosis soon.

She will be on an island next week with no access to doctors possibly rest of her life, she'll have to fly to mainland to get one. She thinks wave sound could help it. She doesn't want to commit to accepting it and is trying to cure it before she leaves.

Is it possible to cure tinnitus in 1 hypno session? What are some unknown cures for it that have worked, not for managing it? Im 21. She is soft spoken to the point of rather commiting suicide than seeing a hypnotist almost it seems which is frustrating. What should I do? Thanks

Tell her to stop taking Aspirine, as it is well known that it can cause or worsen tinnitus at high dose

I like your name. Molokai, is that one of the Hawaiian islands? If your mom is moving to one of the Hawaii islands, that will be nice. Tell her to walk the beaches every morning and evening to witness the sunrises and awesome sunsets. These are calming and mild exercises she can do and the waves can help to mask her T. If needs be, she can try take some calming herbal supplements. These will calm the nerves as obviously she has some very hyperactive neurons causing the bad T. She can try natural alternatives such as Melatonin, Lemon Balm, Valerian, Hops, Catnips, Passion Flower, Chamomile, Lavender, Kava, etc. These can help her sleep and keep calm. You can do google search or check Amazon.com for each of them to know how people review these products, and see if she can take them as a supplement. Check out this site on using natural herbs for helping to sleep or to calm the nerves.

People new to tinnitus hate hearing this, but realistically the doctors and hypnotists are probably not going to help at all. Her tinnitus is most likely not going to get better until she improves her mindset towards it.
