Sorry for not updating before but a couple of bad patches meant I stayed away from the Forum. Rather than dig up the old post I'll just put a roundup here.

T for 8 years, cause was definitely water in the ears whilst showering. Two futile attempts to seek medical help from 'ear specialists'. Several years ago (before seeing 2nd specialist) I started recording the volume of T twice a day, before going to bed and also on rising. I use a numbering system of 1-10 (no such thing as zero). 2 is deemed as 'normal' at which level I do not notice the T if my focus is elsewhere, but sometimes it is quieter still. Initially I gave up caffeine, took Gingko Biloba tablets and went to bed tired to ensure sleep. Added treatments for when volume became difficult, Tanekene (Gingko liquid) and '3hrs of waves' downloaded off youtube. I was also able sometime later to obtain 'alprazolam 0.25mg' to help stay calm during the trying times.

So now the latest. A few months ago I had pressure in the skull and after several visits to doctors, I saw a neurologist who prescribed 2 injections in 3 consecutive days followed by a course of 'Tryptizol 10mg' for 3/4 months. He advised that the tablets should improve my T also. As an incidental, the one injection was "an anti inflammatory", the other "vitamin B" (then determined to be thiamine, B1). I add this because on the second day of injections my T had all but disappeared and I concluded that the vitamin B was the relevant factor. Nevertheless I proceeded with the Tryptizol only and the results are: 30 days prior to tablets an average volume of 2.583, 1st 30 days of tablets an average volume of 1.983, 2nd 30 days of tablets an average volume of 1.7, 3rd 26 days so far an average volume of 1.706.

OK it is not very scientific but even these results do not fully reflect the level of improvement, as during the 2nd and 3rd spells I had a very bad 7 to contend with, the worst it has ever been, and several days to 'wind down' and these distorted the average. What better reflects the improvement is that previous to this treatment the volumes were commonly 2/3/4 with a 1 virtually never occurring. For the above periods, 1st I had 12 x 1s, 2nd I had 30 1s, 3rd I have 28 1s so far. For me this is a significant improvement from pre treatment and now volume level 1, very quiet, is the new 'normal'.

The next stage for me to determine is, when these tablets end, Tryptizol is limited to 4 months because of side effects, is whether the improvement is maintained. In any event, I then propose to increase my thiamine intake with the optimism that this will also help.

I hope this is moderately interesting reading and will give hope to others to keep trying even after T for many years. Good luck.
