Cause of Tinnitus
Benzo + loud noise
I would love to hear some experiences about waking up.

Me waking up is completely horrible and I want to understand if this is common amongst T sufferers.
I can have bad T at night , bad to during the day and everything between but nothing comes even close to the T I have when waking up . I am aware that for some T is worst in the morning, but the T I have when waking up is absolutely indescribable , I feel like I was hit by a truck , like literally .

My whole head buzzzzzes with this electrical noise , its a physical feeling mostly, accompanied of course with about a 10000 dog whistles. I quite literally would last for max a few days if my T was like that always.
Its never like this during the daytime or night , even when its at its worst and driving me completely nuts .

This morning T is insane and completely different to any T any time during the day , I am even having a hard time putting it into words....again , my T is never ever like that "normally" but this is like this every morning , no breaks , ever.

I guess I am asking if anyone experiences this and if you would have any theories as to why this happens.
I feel like my life would be at least 50% easier if I did not have to start EVERY day like this.

So completely demoralizing beginning your day like this ...

Btw, this lasts from anywhere to 10 min to 45 or an hour, sometimes more.

That's terrible, my T is usually very quiet in the mornings but for the first month I was waking up to a deafining noise like a million crickets which would fade out within about 20 seconds only too be proceeded by a massive panic attack.
Now it's pretty low but I can hear it over most things like a whistling interfearance in my hearing .

My T used to be at its lowest point in the morning, but this has changed recently, and it now starts the day pretty severe already.

My T is worst too when I wake up, if I have been lucky enough to sleep. After a shower and driving to work it settles a bit. By the time I drive home in the evening it is louder. Going to bed it is louder again, but like you it is loudest upon waking. It could be the cortisol (stress hormone) levels. Cortisol is at highest level upon waking, because cortisol plays big part in waking you up. Cortisol will increase tinnitus. Aslo, the brain has had little noise during sleep, so it may have focussed on the tinnitus during sleep. The hearing nerve never stops searching for sound. Shame we can't shut down our hearing like we can shut our eyes for a break.

Do you have "normal" T though in the morning but loud ?
What I have in the mornings is almost not T but an electrical thunderstorm , never ever experience that except when waking up.

You are not alone. I experience this some mornings, but it always happens after taking a nap. I find it very strange, but I have no idea what is causing it. The sounds even wake me up sometimes. I've stopped taking naps, because it's extremely bothersome so I wait for the night instead.

When I'm not experiencing this my T is at it's lowest in the morning.

My T sounds like a high pitched chime mixed with an electric type of sound and I've definitely experienced the head almost buzzing with T in the morning. It's always loud in the morning and fades down as I get out of bed and start my day. If I take a nap during the day, the rest of the day will be a louder T day. I have no idea why that happens.

The loudest T I've ever experienced has been when waking up in the middle of dreams.

Mine is very loud in the morning. It used to get better as the day went on and then worse again at night, now it is starting to be that bad all day. I wish this torture only went on for an hour. I'm scared to think of how bad it could get.

My T is always electrical in sound but just even louder first thing. It's not a different sound from my usual T.

I recall dr nagler and billie offering an explanation for this but i cant find the thread

Here it is ....

H is worse in the morning!! T can fluctuate to an extent, but more or less its there no matter what, it can increase, but it never really decreases significantly past its horrible point.

I've been told the reason h is worse in the morning is cuz your ears rested over night, and they have a whole day to adjust to the BS you have to hear all day... which can even raises the T.
