      Hi everyone,

I want to attend to a wedding and I know the music will be loud.

So I want to invest in really good earplugs. I think the costume ones are the best.

Has any one tried very good earplugs? What is the brand name?

      Thank you.

I have ACS Custom 19, 26 and acs full block, then musician ear plugs from Amazon and the one Bill mentioned, plus 3M ear muff for flying :p and Bose noice cancelling headphones ... but learned that overprotecting is bad too .. foam plugs are nearly imho all the same but the sound quallity is not that good .. the ACS Custom 19 are probably the best natural sounding earplugs out there.. but 175$

I too have found these to be the best for me after trying many so called 'Custom' and 'Musician' earplugs. Great for mowing the Lawn and using the blender .
They do however need to be fitted EXACTLY as 3M explain on the pack to work properly - I also trim the length a bit at the wide end.
      Simple cheap and effective...

The best earplugs are the ones that fit you correctly.

I have large ear canals and the only ones that seem to give me adequate protection are hearos xtreme, and even those don't seem quite large enough for my right ear. It's really frustrating when a package says "large" and it obviously doesn't fit.

I've found it to be imperative for the earplugs to form a tight air seal against the canal. Otherwise too much noise will be let in. Even a slight adjustment following insertion can break this seal.

Yep, and when you have very large ear canals it's hard to get a tight seal. My left one is okay with the extra large earplugs, but my right one I have to do very carefully and have the earplug nearly touching my eardrum to get a okay fit. It's frustrating that they don't make earplugs large enough for people like me.

I have custom molded earplugs, but they are not very comfortable and are painful to talk in. I only wear those in very loud environments where I will be doubling up on hearing protection.

@Wojtek Kalka, why do they have so much wire attached to them?

Because I listen to Nature sounds all the time makes life easier. The first are headphones and ear plugs together in one.

Hi Wojtek, could you please take a photo of your ear with ACS custom earplugs? Like the photo where you wear in-ear monitors but with earplugs instead.

I want to buy them soon, but I can't find too many photos of people wearing them and I'm wondering how visible are they.

When I search Amazon.com's site using "ACS earplugs" as the keyword, I can't find anything.

Also, what is the NRR (noise reduction) in dB for these?

Felt a lot a lot, would say about 32db alone and together with the Bose qc35 outside they make everything go away up to 90% you can't hear anyone talking next to you, would say together 45-50db felt and 33-38db for real.Alone powerful, together with the qc35 just amazing. In real can't say my Tinnitus is a lot louder then everything then. Haven't found anything more powerful at all.

Custom only over the Acs website

The PRO-27, their highest protection is 27d average reduction. That's 5db less than basic 33db foam plugs, which is significant. Just being factual. :)

I have the Bose QC20 earbuds (just for noise cancelling - no music) and find they offer amazing protection when I wear the Peltor X5A muffs over them. Although this would not be optimal for loud impulse noise.

Etymotic make them and they also make neat in-ear monitors! But they do have their price.
